Hey there I've been following your story a little.

I travelled from Tulsa to Dallas last week (9 hour round trip) for

Dr Hobar and I can't say enough about him. If you are using the

Dallas CT office, it wouldn't be inconvenient at all. They have a

close relationship and can make sure that your appointments are

coordinated conveniently. We'll have to go to CT once a week for the

next few months and will see Dr. Hobar for a follow up in late

September.

Dr Hobar's office feels strongly about DOC bands and will do what

they can to get your insurance to pay the maximum amount, even if

Cranial Tech is " out-of-network. " I have never experienced more

support as I have from this group, ever.

By the way, if you have to stay the night in Dallas, ask CT if you

can get one of their special room rates. They have some good deals

at near-by hotels.

Initially, when I thought I might look beyond our Oklahoma City

doctor, I called CT in Dallas and asked for a recommendation... they

were pretty hesitant to give one out. I suppose it is pretty

political.

We happened to have a family friend who is a top Dallas plastic

surgeon (for adults) I called him and asked where he would go if

this were his child. At the time, we had not ruled out cranio and I

was very worried. Our surgeon friend felt so strongly that Dr Hobar

was the guy to see that he called him personally and got us in for

an appointment within a few days.

I can't say enough about this group.

About x-rays and CTs... CTs are the only way to rule out cranio,

though an experienced doctor can usually tell if it is actually a

concern with a physicial evaluation. Some headshapes are more

indicative of cranio than others. For example, my daughter has

scaphocephaly with a lot of forehead bossing.

If you can't get a name of an Austin doctor from CT, but want to

stay in Central TX, you might consider going to a plastic surgeon

who does pediatric work instead of a neurosurgeon. Most

cranialfacial teams have both and I've found that the plastic

surgeons seem to be a little more sympathetic to issues like plagio

which is often just seen a cosmetic issue.
