Hi,

You'll probably get board replies anyway, but I wanted to post to

let you know that in the Helmet/Band Database in the Database

section of the group, there is a column for group members to add

their email for offlist contact. I checked to see if anyone had

listed themselves for CHOA and Atlanta CT. Here are their emails

(why don't you email them and ask about how their personal

experience went at each of these locations?):

CHOA:

wspbebe@... (Robin)

Atlanta CT:

ngubash@... (Natasha, one of our group moderators)

struan@...

Good luck with all of your options research!

Hi & welcome!

I know you'll get plenty of replies from Atlanta area members, it's a

popular place in our group :)

I just wanted to say, that while the casting isn't a picnic, it's

quick & most importantly 100% painless to the child. It only takes

about 10 mins time and while most babies do cry because they hate

being held down or fussed with, they quickly recover as soon as the

casting is done and forget about it.

I just didnt' want the scanning over casting be the deciding factor

in your choice.

Good luck w/your decision, I've heard great things about Atlanta STAR

& DOCs!

Hi there,

I used the Atlanta CT but I am very familiar with the O & P

department of CHOA. They have an excellent reputation. I have met

in person 3 other moms who used them and all were pleased. You could

meet with them and CT and decide who you feel more familiar with.

Location wouldn't matter because they are across the street from each

other.

Let us know what you decide and good luck to you.

Hi Deana,

My son has brachy and we've been participating in a Plagio Study

with the CHOA Orthotics Department for several months. has had

two scans with the Starscanner. The scanner literally takes a couple

of seconds to scan and you're finished! We are currently

repositioning, but I would be more than willing to entrust 's

treatment to the Orthotics personnel at CHOA if we were to consider

a band. I'm not familiar with CT in Atlanta, but based on previous

posts regarding CT in general, I belive would be well taken

care of at their facility also. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar

enough with the difference between Starbands and DOC bands to

comment on them. Perhaps other members who have experience with

successfully banding a baby w/ brachy will respond. I wish you

successful rounding whichever facility you choose!
