Hi, We are at 6 weeks so I will be on the lookout for it. What causes this

since the diet is so healthy?

What does it " look like " ? Luke just out of nowhere is having what we've

assumed is a TERRIBLE onset of seasonal allergies, but at 2 am lying with

him there feeling so bad, I thought, man this came on suddenly out of

nowhere (though he IS prone to allergies) and of course remembered what

Elaine had said!!!

I think this thread is related to the infamous " three month flare " .

It is discussed briefly on page 52 of BTVC. I don't think a real

cause has been established, but it is very common for people to have

what Elaine called a temporary " relapse " about the second of third

month in the diet - even when it has been followed carefully.

Several families have described this happening and it can range from

the cold like symptoms mentioned by others, to another round of die-

off symptoms including stimming, D, rashes, etc.

Don't worry too much. We didn't really see the classic flare. I did

just mention, however, that we've had way more than two or three die-

off episodes. They are usually very short and are most often

accompanied by some pretty good things, too, like bursts of speech

or further lifting of the brain fog.

We often say here that when bad things are mixed with good - it is

likely die-off. I LIKE to see die-off, to be honest. Get that yucky

stuff out!! I just went through a few days of it myself. I've been

on SCD since Sept.

Take care,

son - , almost 5yo, ASD, SCD one year

Hi Kathy,

I think it's the last stand of the more stubborn bacteria/yeast.

It's like some of it dies off at the beginning, but there is more

which can " hold out " and some time around 2 - 3 months, it dies off,

causing the symptoms.

That's not based on science, just on one year of reading this list!

Oh, I totally agree! I like to see die off! He can't hardly breathe

through his nose at ALL though and that is a major sensory issue for him so

I sure hope it eases off soon. His stools haven't gone too loose but they

are almost white again and more frequent, so I am convinced now this is what

is going on. Unbelievable how much the gut affects us, if someone had told

me all this a year ago I'd have said they were quacky. Meanwhile, he is

improving even more right now, otherwise. His teacher said he participated

in small group at school and sat at circle with almost no cues -

unbelievable!! And he's more willing to write/color, more cooperative

playing with his younger brother and sister, and is even tolerating this bad

cold-thing better than he normally would. The whining is getting old but

good night, he's dealing with so much, I can tolerate that a while knowing

he does feel bad right now. He's such a total doll when his mind is clear

and he can show himself!!!! I'm so thankful the Lord led us to this.
