Guest guest
Felice, For one, How long did he give you to wean off the Neurontin?? And, what dose are you currently on right now? I hope that he at least gave you that 4 1/2 weeks to wean off the Neurontin....cause any shorter time than that is VERY DANGEROUS!!! As for the incision, I don't know how deep it is, being as I don't have an SCS, but, I don't heal worth a crap anymore myself. I have a sore on my ear where my hole is for my pierced earrings....I've had it with a scab over it for the past month now, and it refuses to heal for anything. I've had cuts on my legs or arms that takes like FOREVER to heal.........but, for an incision to not even START to heal??? I'm thinking that there is something wrong that the doctor should take care of himself. Can't they stitch it up any? Just a few, to try and get it to start to heal any? Something here just doesn't sound right....... And, as for the Topamax, The weight loss is a side effect that MAY happen... unfortunately, I'm not one of the lucky ones. But, I can say that it does work great for the swelling, burning pain, electrical pains, muscle spasms.. ...and it also helps (along with a couple of other meds) with my headaches that I've been getting that are major killers. BUT, Felice, PLEASE BE EXTRA CAREFUL when you come off the Neurontin. If you go down any, and start feeling weird IN ANY WAY at all, go back up to the last dose you were on for a few more days or so......because that means that your body is not ready to go down any yet. Tonia ----- Original Message ----- Hi All, I went to my pain doc on Friday and the news wasn't great. It turns out that incision for the attena is still not closed. So the doc is really worried now that bacteria will get in and that I am rejecting the spinal cord stimulator. So I am not allowed to use it and not supposed to put any pressure. I would think that sitting would be the most pressure on my butt however he didn't restrict activity accept to say no pressure and to keep it covered and dry and see you in four and a half weeks. He also wants me to wean off the Neurontin and to try Topomax. Supposed to be easier to lose weight on it and better for controlling the Trigeminal Neuralgia. Also will decrease the swelling I am having in my legs and feet. However he didn't tell me how low I have to be on the Neurontin before I can go on the Topomax. I asked the nurse to ask him and she said it was too complicated for her to ask him that and I needed to call and speak to him myself. But it is a Catch 22 because when you call you have to go through the nurse and not speak directly to! Oh well! Felice
