Another question on blood pressure

My blood pressure is normally quite good, around 125/135 - 80/85. I

have recently been quite ill for 3 days and yesterday, just after

awakening and whilst still in bed, took my BP, which was 134/62. I

took it twice over the following 5 minutes, 128/64 and 124/67. Today

I did the same it was 118/71 and 114/73, 5 minutes later. I have been

quite light-headed recently but don't have any other illnesses

besides IGA. Is low BP normal first thing in the morning and does it

then build once you start moving?

My 12 year old's systolic is usually about 10 points lower in the early AM

than PM. Back in our more panic stricken days, I'd take his BP in bed in

the AM and the systolic would be 10 - 25 points lower than later in the day.

I believe this is fairly typical. Hopefully, Pierre can weigh in here, as

his expertise far exceeds my own.

I don't know what type of machine you have, but the numbers are

(unfortunately :) ! ) within the margin of error on the machine we use (one

of the higher end Omron's). All of the numbers you've quoted aren't grounds

for alarm, but are a normal fluctuation.

More importantly, I don't think the numbers you are getting explain the

light-headedness. It's a good think you are keeping an eye on this.

Perhaps most importantly, how long does this state last? I get what I call

" low blood pressure rushes " , when I stand suddenly ... but I am not on meds

and am not a kidney patient. Assuming that is what it is, and you numbers

aren't getting any lower than you're reporting, some people might think

you're bragging!
