Hi Ann,

So glad you found us. Welcome!!

Yes, bands/helmets can help with asmyetry & ear misalignment.

If you have the time search our archives. There's a TON of posts

regarding just your question.

Good luck,

Crista

Hello Ann

Welcome to the group. We are glad to have you.

Speaking from my own experience Willow's ear misalignment did get

better in the band, but did not completely correct. One ear is a

bit higher and they are still misaligned. Ears are the most

difficult to correct and seem to be the last to correct. Sorry I

couldn't give better news. Good luck with the appointment.

Hi Ann and welcome to the group!

I just wanted to let you know that the ears lining up is normally

the last to correct. It takes time, keep your chin up. I wish you

the best in your plagio journey.

Hi Ann,

Welcome to the group! I have read in other posts that helmets and

bands can offer ear misalignment correction, but it is often the

very last thing to correct.

This question was also posed in the polls section of the group. If

you would like to see how many parents reported ears realigning, and

to what degree, with helmets and bands, just visit the POLLS section

of the group.

I hope that is of some help!

Hi Ann and welcome to the group.

The ears assymetry/misalignment can be corrected with a band, and

that was one of the main reasons why my dh and I decided to band my

son. His ears were way out of whack, both vertically and

horizontally, if you know what I mean. I was afraid that a hat

would never sit straight on his head, not mention a pair of glasses,

and I just didn't want him to have to deal with that.

Keep your fingers crossed. Not every ped is ignorant of plagio, or

against banding. I happen to be very fortunate to have one that is

pro banding, and very plagio/tort aware.

Good luck and kepp us posted on your upcoming visit.

Hi Ann,

Welcome to the group! My daughter's DOCband did correct her facial

and ear asymmetries. Where are you located? Maybe some one here can

direct you to a plagio educated doctor.

Wow, thanks to everyone for responding. It's so comforting to know

that we are not the only ones out there.

We are in Hawaii (the island of Oahu), and are Kaiser members. So if

the Kaiser pediatrician is not helpful, we will go on our own to find

treatment. I realize from reading everyone's messages how important

it is to treat early.

Thank you again!
