hi my son is almost 2 also and he just started walking/ running

really well. i would suggest getting a good sturdy push toy < we got

the hippo by fisher price>and a protective helmet. we started my son

in the johnny jumper at about 8 months and then the walker, he

started doing well with the push toy around christmas and even took

his first steps. he then was just taking 5 steps then 10 and so on.

he is just now walking really well, but does have his issues with

balancing. the helmet has helped save him from some bumps. i will

tell you he does better on hardwood floor as opposed to other

flooring, and he is still not good at outside b/c of the uneven

ground. it just takes time, but they surprise you when they are

ready to go. good luck! plus chasing his big sister has been a big

motivation for him to get going.

mom 21 month CHargEr.

Hi Joe,

My daughter seemed SO READY to walk around 2 years of age, but she just didn't

until 3 years of age; she just needed to hold our hands for some reason for a

very long time. She had a pony walker which also helped her to gain the

confidence she needed to walk independently. I've heard other parents say

similar things on the list over the years, that they seem so ready, just take

longer to get that last step to independent walking. We went from holding both

her hands to walk, weaned her down to one and then she went to independent

finally on her 3rd birthday.

Good luck, keep us posted....

Dylan figured out his own way of getting around at age 2. He had a Little

Tikes dump truck. We noticed when he played with it, he would push it

backwards and the dump truck would " dump " and Dylan would fall forward. Roy

put a heavy duty screw in it, holding it together so he could play without

falling. Little did we know that he had not been trying to play with it,

but trying to walk with it. He then did for at least a year, walking along

on his knees with his arms pushing the dump truck in front of him.

He did have a therapy walker, then an assistive mobility device, and then

independence at age 3yrs 8 mos.
