Guest guest
My son's DOC band also seems to move and the point is never in the same place (9 weeks banded so far). I've mentioned it to the CT office but they always say it's because of the shaved areas allowing for growth. It get frustrating, I always want to move it around especially when he is sleeping. --- In Plagiocephaly , " brightinaz " <brightinaz@y...> wrote: > Hi all: > > I've already discussed my tummy sleeping and red spot concerns, and > this group has been great about responding - its helped so much. > > My latest concern is about whether I have the helment on exactly > right. Guest guest
Hi, In the beginning of treatment the bands are made a little bit big to allow room for growth. The shifting you're talking about is normal. Once grows some the shifting will ease up. Guest guest
, I agree with . Shifting is normal. If it's moving more than a 1/2-1 " that would be questionable (bring that up with the ortho at the next appointment - if it's causing bad red spots bring it up before). Moving while sleeping is very common especially in the beginning. na's did that all the time. I probably asked at every check if it was ok. There has to be room for growth so there is always some wiggle room. If it's really bothering you take it off and re-adjust. You doing good checking the red spots for skin breakdown. As long as the spots are disappearing before one hour all should be fine. mom to na DOC Grad > > Hi all: > > > > I've already discussed my tummy sleeping and red spot concerns, and > > this group has been great about responding - its helped so much. > > > > My latest concern is about whether I have the helment on exactly > > right. Guest guest
Hello I think what you are going through is a common worry. I asked the doc the same ?. Am I putting it on right / does it sit right. He told me that when I put the band on Willow to slightly open it up, and just let it sit on top of her head. The band has a funny way of falling into place. I'm sure you are doing a great job, and the band sits ok. Redspots should fade within an hr, and if they don't than an adjustment might be needed. Guest guest
Hi , Like the others told you, this is very common, especially in the beginning of treatment. If you check out my daughter's plagio kid album (Hannah , there is a photo called " Gap in band " which shows this well. The helmet is made to a rounded version of your child's head, so it basically comes into contact w/the head only on those bulging areas. In a severe case like my Hannah was, the band literally teetered between that back left and front right spot. You can see the huge gap she had where her flat spot was. You can see that it still worked great in that progress picture! The more longer she had it and more she filled in the less the band teetered and shifted like that. Hope that makes sense! When you put it on just try to do the best you can w/lining up the ear holes and putting the point in the center. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad tomorrow!
