Guest guest
, is 4 1/2 years and has assymetry of about 2.5cms. This has increased over the years. The most consistent infomation we have is that the discrepancy continues to increase, but in proportion. This makes sense to me, as if the right leg is growing at 95% rate of left leg, then 95% of a bigger number is a bigger number! I have heard some reports of the discrepancy remainin constant, but to me, for this to be true in oscar's case, he would surely have had to have been born with 2.5cm difference. However, there was no noticable difference. For the first 4 years, our ortho told us we needed to take no action. This seemed odd to me, and taking knowledeg and advice from this list, was referred to another specialist at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London through Dr Stanhope. He immediately implemented a shoe lift (internal) at half the discrepancy. Leg lengthening to about 6cms is quite possible, apparently. I hope this helps Dad to , 4 1/2, RSS, GHT for 4 months, and INCREASED growth velocity, no weight gain though, no periactin or other meds, first day at school yesterday went completely without problems. And he kept his trousers dry!
