Guest guest
Today is the 20th anniversary of my mother's death from colon cancer. I miss her so very much especially since my own diagnoises of Breast Cancer. I know she is with me It was very evident this past Christmas. When my husband and I first started dating 32 years ago My mom insisted on calling him Carl. She did'nt know why but she made the mistake several times. She would ask If " Carl " had called me. Or " Are you and Carl going out tonight " and I would correct her and say his name is . She finally got it and for years she would call " Carl " just to get a reaction out of him. Well, during my radiation treatments in November and December I met a women who started her treatments on the same day. She was 80 years old (My mom would have been in her 80's) and I grew to love this woman. Her name is Lila. I found myself getting to my treatments early so we could chat with each other. She met several time and would sit with her husband Joe in the waiting room. When was'nt with me, Lila always asked " How's ? " . Our last day together was just before Christmas and we exchanged little gifts with each other and our addresses and telephone numbers so we could keep intouch. When Lila said good bye to me she gave me a hug and whispered in my ear " I hope you and CARL have a wonderful christmas. Well I almost fainted. I knew there and then that my mom was with me. I had never told Lila the story. The only way my mom could let me know she was there was this little inside joke. GOD gave me the best Christmas gift I will ever receive. HE is so giving and blessed me with Lila. Just wanted to share this story with all of you. Love and Hugs Nancee
