I have to concur, Luke had an appt just yesterday and he was 1 lb less than

months ago, but he's looking so much more " beefy " now with SCD, arms and

legs actually have a little bit of MEAT on them, I was sure he'd gained

weight! But I know that what he's done is lost probably a good 5 lbs of

bloated belly and put it back on as real weight, all over. Very

good!!!!!!!!!

Hey ,

that is exactly what my children did , They lost a little weight in the

beginning and now 8 months later they have gained , and they are the healthiest

they have ever been.

age 7 pdd dos, almost non existent , functioning beautifully in a

typical class room.

scd- 8 months

Dillon age 5 severe dyspraxia of speech, and severe sensory

integration , all symptoms are gone , and he is such a typical little boy

Amberly age 3 speech delayed , language is improving every day , we are up

to 3 and 4 word sentences , she was so full of yeast and bad bacteria's that

took over her body.

Hi Marilyn

when we pulled the complex carbs from our

GFCF/SF diet back around 12/29/03

(no more GFCF grains like tapioca quinoa amaranth millet, rice,

yams, corn, etc etc)

just gave him lots of veggies/meat broths (lots of liquid!!)

it was dramatic and immediate

he had 3 soup like ammonia foul diarrheas with " sand "

and in 3 days his perpetually bloated tummy was flat

for once he stopped looking like a teletubby!

and he had wonderful joint attention and was calm

and could sit and read books, point at pictures!

and then he regressed for about 2 weeks+ (I suspect die-off or

yeast/clostridia see-saw)

very frustrating to see

but he got better

(during that interim, we were not fully SCD

and I gave him tons of yeast killers(Three Lac, kyolic garlic) and

illegal probiotics (Culturelle, HMF forte, ProBioGold) overkill,

really) (I can't comment on whether that was necessary

or a good move or what)

but by 2/23/04 he was getting diarrheas still (and rashes)

so we pulled all illegals and started SCD clean

(no dairy yet, no honey, limited fruits coz yeast issues)

and he started getting formed poop

good luck!

chelating too so I'm not sure if I can find legals in all of his

illegals.

I remember one time I was talking to my doctor about weight loss and

she told me not to look at pounds but size. She said when she was in

college she got serious about her health and went down 3 dress sizes

but weight the same. She said muscle is more dense than fat so if

one weights the same but looks better it is because of the increased

muscle.

My youngest son will be 3 next week. When he was born he was a

healthy 8 lbs, 7 oz but around the time he was 3 months old he

stopped gaining. At 6 months he was considered failing to thrive. I

got him on the GF diet for celiac by the time he was 10 months old.

For the next 2 years he has gained weight to the point that he was

finally on the charts (5th percentile) but still quite small. I then

put him on the SCD diet. After the first week on the diet I weighed

him and he lost a pound. I was not concerned though because I still

felt the diet was the answer for him. I did not weigh him again

until his last doctor's visit (after 3 months SCD). He had not only

gained weight but is in the 20th percentile! I think everyone at the

beginning of the diet loses weight. I think part of it is water

retention and part is fat. That paves the way for the muscles to

increase.

Wow! I hope to see results like that!!!

What did you feed him for snacks during the transition?

Caleb is such a picky eater, all he will eat for snacks is potato chips, french

fries or pear and of course any cookie or cupcake (gfcf) if I would make it.

The baked goods are the first thing that I have removed but he still begs for

them and I feel sooo guilty. All of his friends have junk food at preschool and

playgroup and it makes him sad :(.

Hi Marilyn, no exaggeration, my son's belly flattened in 1 1/2 weeks.

I document everything. I also noticed that his cellulite on his torso

has diminished. He is average height and was not overweight, just an

inflated belly and cellulite on his chest. I read that cellulite is

not just on heavy people. Cellulite is the body's inability to rid

itself of junk (oxidized cells) before the new cells come in. It's

like a backed up cellular traffic jam. I believe the SCD is clearing

out not only his gut but allowing the junk to exit the body as well.

Sorry, I know you didn't ask for all this info, I got carried away.

Wow, I can't wait to see how long it takes for Caleb's belly to go down. Thanks

for all the great info. I must have some major cellular trafic jams on the back

of my legs!! LOL

Hi Jzin,

Have you stopped the illegal probiotics also?

When I was using bifidum bacteria (as in the probiogold) it took a

while to get it out of my system. It just make take a while longer.
