Guest guest
Hello Matt Welome to the group. I do think that you have made the right decision, and that once it's over you will not regreat it one bit. As far as the band pushing one eye shut does sound like you might need another adjustment. What type of helmet/band are we talking about, and can you get ahold of your ortho / doc to adjust it / look at it? Please let us know. Guest guest
Hello, and thanks for the welcome. Zoe has a helmet probably close to the " DOC band " . It covers her forehead, sides, and the whole back of her head. p.s. do the Tort excersises get better? She screams when we strech her neck. I'm hoping they do. thanks, Matt
Guest guest
Hi Matt, Is there any way you could post a picture of this? What type of helmet is it and where did you get it from? A helmet/band shouldn't intefere w/vision at all. It's very common to need a few adjustments at the beginning of treatment before getting that perfect fit. It sounds like she may just need a little trim above the eyes. It doesn't look too tight though, does it? THis is a really common place to need adjusting, as the helmet makers don't like to take off too much there as it is an important pressure/holding area. , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > Hello, my daughter just received her helmet this last friday. Guest guest
Hi, Where are you located? Where did you get your band? I had to have my son's helmet shaved above the eyes twice. Even after 3 mo of PT, he still have the exercises. I just do all kinds of crazy distractions techniques that help some. Thanks, -----Original Message-----From: thehangingcalendar [mailto:apistat_commander@...] Sent: Monday, June 14, 2004 10:06 AMPlagiocephaly Subject: Re: Helmet being too low?Hello, and thanks for the welcome. Guest guest
I have found that each time we think our fit is just right, ds grows, or it changes and we need tweaking again, sometimes before the next visit. I have just been very proactive in calling in, describing what is happening, and each time we have been given a quick appt for adjustment. I have come to decide it is just a constant thing because of the nature of it changing all the time(head size, shape and fit if it is doing what it should be doing). Today we went in for a gapping on one side and it turned out Colin's head grew in just a few days(which explains all the eating this weekend!) and he needed to have the helemt adjusted all around to accomodate more circumference. I would just call the orthotist and explain and aske them to look at it. Hopefully they will adjust it just a bit to fit better. I understand your frustration. I was questioning it all this weekend. I feel like we are always tweaking it. However, I also realize my son's head is always changing, so will the fit. With your dd, if it is sqeezing now, that might only get worse as she is growing. Just call and get it looked at. Much better than fretting and worrying while you wait for the next appt. That is what they are there for (and that is just what they told me when I called). Good luck with it. It is a pain to keep having to pop in, but do not let it ride if you are worried. mish > Hello, my daughter just received her helmet this last friday. Guest guest
Hi Matt, I'm late in replying to your message, but was wondering if you got a chance to call your ortho about a possible adjustment to your daughter's helmet. I agree that it should definitely not be obstructing vision in any way. I have read in other posts that it is quite common to need a few fine-tuning adjustments to get the fit just right after the initial fitting. Did the ortho say he would shave a bit in the eye area? Please keep us posted, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > Hello, my daughter just received her helmet this last friday. She is > almost 10 months old. Guest guest
I talked to him yesterday. He said to try pulling it down in the back further. And to practise on making sure we put in on right. I tried all of those things, and still it looks meesed up. I accually threw it in the garbage last night. (I took it out later) We live 2 hours from where we recieved it, so I might have to drive back there to get it shaved. >From: " redlocks2003 " <redlocks@...> >Reply-Plagiocephaly >Plagiocephaly >Subject: Re: Helmet being too low? >Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 16:29:46 -0000 > >Hi Matt, > >I'm late in replying to your message, but was wondering if you got a >chance to call your ortho about a possible adjustment to your >daughter's helmet.
