Guest guest
Hi Becky! Thank you for the tip to keep the batter in the refrigerator. I think it will be easier. I will try it tomorrow. My Simon is doing better. He is having beet juice everyday now. I would like to know if I can give to give 1/2 cup of yogurt everyday. It is OK? I will talk with you soon. , Simon & 's mom (+4 weeks) > > > > > > Hi Becky! Good idea about the Desitin. I will try it. > Simon > > > is > > > > > > definitely not having constipation. Guest guest
Hi , Good to hear from you!! I added the beet puree to the carrot/egg batter today (only 1/4cup) and neither one of my guys complained about the taste. I had about 5 cups of carrot puree and added only 1/4 cup of beet puree so there wasn't an overwhelming amount of beet puree. When I left it in the fridge overnight, I got about 1 1/2 cups of liquid separated from the batter. So I dumped out about 3/4 to 1 cup and poured the rest back in the batter to have some moisture. It really helps to get some of that water out when you want to have thick pancakes. As for the yogurt, I seem to remember someone mentioning to give 1/8 of a tsp once a day for a couple of days and see if there are any reactions. Then increase slowly as the days go by and see what reactions there may be from an increase in the amount you give them. I think that milk constipates my son, so I won't try it for a while. Say, are you giving the beet juice only once a day or more than once a day? Take care, Becky in Chesapeake, VA with 10 year old on SCD 7 weeks and working on clearing the constipation > Hi Becky! Guest guest
Hi Becky! It is hard for me to write in English and it is the reason that I take so long to answer back. I will post a message later to ask if there is a Spanish website where I can connect with people who speak my native language. English is a tough language! Anyway, I haven't tried the sneaky pancakes. I am still giving to them eggs and sometimes sausage and fruit for their breakbast. I would love to know how to prepare them with apple sauce or something like that. Last week my husband and I went to a conference and met a nice lady who talked about the SCD. It was very interesting to talk with her and know that I was wrong in some things. Like introducing them very early to the yogurt (I am talking about 3 weeks after started the SCD) and also to the nut flour (It was after 2 weeks on the SCD). The Breaking the Vicious Cycle book is very confusing for me, because it doesn't say how really to do the diet and it is not done for children with constipation, like Simon is. When I started the diet I went to the Pecanbread website and followed the stages. Last Thursday when I met this nice woman, she told me to give to my children any kind of legal vegetables and fruits. She said not to follow the stages, just be sure that all the veggies and fruits are legal and peeled and cooked. She said that I need to start it simple. She encouraged me to not give any juice to them, just give a lot of water. I gave twice a day beet juice to Simon, but I am not giving it anymore because I am not going to give yogurt for a while to him either and he doesn't like to drink it straight. I will give the beet in the pancakes. And I really appreciate your tip. I would like to know how you started the SCD. Simon is going to po-poo every other day. He is not having any pain, and we have noticed that his stool is soft and very loooong! We don't know how he can keep something like that! I never thought that I will talk about po-poo so much in my life. My boys go to the bathroom and I run behind them, just to check how they do. I hope with all my heart that your son is doing better. I know very well how hard is to see the child being constipated and trying to po- poo. For that reason is that I like to keep in touch with you, because I know how you feel. You take care, > > Hi Becky! Thank you for the tip to keep the batter in the > > refrigerator. I think it will be easier. I will try it tomorrow. > > > > My Simon is doing better. Guest guest
Hola Becky! It is very nice to hear from you. I didn't know that you understand Spanish. I would love to have the opportunity to communicate with people who speak my language. It will benefit a lot of Spanish speakers to know about the SCD. Thank you for sending me the recipes and all the tips. I really feel very sad when I know that your son is still having constipation problems. It is very difficult as a mom to handle that. I hope that your son can get better soon. I will prepare the recipe and let you know how it will turn out. Cuidate y gracias, > > Hi Becky! > > > > It is hard for me to write in English and it is the reason that I > > take so long to answer back. Guest guest
Angie, that was what I thought about the fruit juices. It has been very hard for me to quite giving to my boys the apple juice, but what I am doing is giving to them more than 1/2 water and the rest juice. You take care, ( & Simon 4 yo) +5weeks SCD > > > She probably was talking about fruit juices because of the sugar content , juices are very easily assimilated in the body , so when you drink a fruit juice it is allot more sugar than eating a piece of fruit , the fruit takes 30 min to 1 hr to digest and the juices are within minutes , I personally feel that the veggie juice especially the greens are very healing , and believe me we have experienced it . Maybe do a small amount of beet with some greens . > > > Good luck to you , > > Angie > legal vegetables and fruits.
