Guest guest
Hi , It is pretty common for that " smooshed " look actually, especially with chubby babies. I used to call it " angry face. " It shouldn't interfere w/his vision though, so it should sit just above his eyebrows. You can look in my daughter's " Hannah B " folder to see pics of how all 3 of her DOCbands fit. We had to have the first one trimmed upward a bit b/c it was too low. They don't like to trim it up unless they have to b/c it's an important area in regards to the function of the band. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma --- In Plagiocephaly , " julieacg " <julieacg@s...> wrote: > Hello all, > > I posted a message several weeks ago about Jack. Guest guest
Thanks , Your daughter's progress is incredible. The docband obviously helped, she looks beautiful. A few other questions -- I have been removing Jack's band in the morning to dry his head and band. The band is a bit stinky. Is there anyway to reduce the odor? Should I use alcohol to clean the band more than once a day? Should I remove the band more often (for a few mintues) to let his head/band dry out? Thanks! & Jack 8 months, 3rd day in band, Washington, DC > > Hello all, > > > > I posted a message several weeks ago about Jack. He is 8 months > old > > and just got his Docband. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the compliments on Hannah . As far as the stink goes, I'll tell you what worked best for us (and after 3 bands we tried it all!). I'd bathe Hannah in the morning because she sweated the most over the night. While she was in the tub I'd scrub her band with a rough wash cloth and a high concentrate rubbing alcohol (like 91 0r 99%--you may need to ask your pharmacist to special order it for you, though I could always find the 91%). This would be her hour off so I could allow enough time for the band to dry. Last summer when she was sweating worse, I'd do this but then speed dry it in the sun or with a fan and give her just a half hour off and then do it again at night. A strong shampoo also helps, like L'Oreal Kids. During those first days when he's sweating more you can always take the band off throughout the day and towel dry his head and soak up the sweat on his band w/paper towels or something. This could help keep away a heat rash! BTW, Hannah would have been Jack if she was a boy! > > > Hello all, > > > > > > I posted a message several weeks ago about Jack. Guest guest
Hi Just like told you, we also used the high% alc, and a rough coton cloth to SCRUB the band with. We never had that bad odor, but Willow was also banded in the wintertime. Good luck, and keep us posted on Jack's progress Sandy Willow's Mom --- In Plagiocephaly , " julieacg " <julieacg@s...> wrote: > Hello all, > > I posted a message several weeks ago about Jack. Guest guest
Hi We use 91% isopropyl alcohol and white paper towels only. We were told just to use white paper towels so that no fragments of cloth would remain and rub his skin under the band. I'm sure if your careful, a washcloth would be perfectly fine. I don't even scrub too hard and the smell goes away with using the higher percentage alcohol. HTH Sue Colin F. 10 mos.
