Guest guest
Hi I was on it and had no reaction good or bad. I know that if you were also on the Naproxen that the Neurontin helps the absorbtion of the Naproxen. I was on 300 mg every 12 hrs but in reading the instections found that it takes 1500 mg a day to be effective so I had uped the dosage to every 6 but had a bad reaction to it then. It felt like an anxiety attack but acompanied with a pins and needles buzzing feeling in the skin all over my body. Hope this helps a little but like I said it gave me no help or relief. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your information about neurotin. I just started it yesterday and the pain is the same but I feel like I am here but not all here if that makes any sense. I dont like being really sleepy and being unable to sleep. Oh well. Hopefully it will start working if not well on to try another thing.

Guest guest
, I was on Neurontin for 3 months.....and I swear, I will never go near it again. It did work barely.....but not that great. My biggest complaint that I do warn EVERYONE about though, is if you start Neurontin, DO NOT STOP TAKING IT!!! No matter what dose you are on, do not just stop taking it....this is one med that you have to absolutely be weaned off of, because one of the main side effects when you stop taking it is SEVERE SEIZURES! I was taking 2700mg/day...and the idiot doctor I had told me to stop taking it....but didn't give me any to wean off of it...and I only had enough pills to last me 3 days. I have never had seizures before.....but for 2 weeks, I laid in bed, not knowing what was going on around me or nothing.....but I was having some seizures constantly. Not normal seizures either....they was all in the brain. If they'd be regular seizures, my husband would of realized it and rushed me to the ER, because his Aunt goes into Seizures every so often...used to be more as she was younger...but less the older she gets. I know another woman, her doctor put her in the Hospital for a month due to she had to come off the Neurontin quicker than normal also....and instead of being at home going off...he put her in ICU so that she could be monitored constantly for the seizures. Plus, just last weekend or the weekend before that, one of the Co-Owners of this group, Felice, had been going down on the Neurontin to switch to Topamax....and had been going too fast and had one hell of a scary weekend. So, if you do start taking the Neurontin, Here is some DON'T's: DON"T RUN OUT!!! Make sure your Pharmacy has the med there....and get the refills at LEAST 2 days before you run out!!! DON'T PASS OFF WEIRD FEELINGS! If you start feeling weirded out...or different....call your doctor IMMEDIATELY!!!! and...a BIG one I learned the HARD way.... DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL WITH NEURONTIN!!!! You may just not know where you are at a couple of swallows later! I got lost in my own house!!! Guest guest
, I have been on Neurontin since August. Started at 300 mg 3x day, am now up to 2100 mg. It does make you sleepy for abt a wk or so, then your body shd adjust, so don't give up too soon. It doesn't relieve aches or muscle pn but does help a lot with the burning. My TOS Dr says the max he will put someone on is 3600 mg a day. It is supposed to be one of the best for nerve pn with the least problems combining it with other meds. I am also on amitriptyline(Elavil) and Zanaflex, this is supposed to be a very effective combo as they all work in different ways on the pain. But am still waiting for a serious pain med, all they want to give me is Ultram, it wasn't helpingso they now gave me Ultracet, which is Ultram with Tylenol, it doesn't do anything either. My TOS Dr is writing a strongly worded recommendation that they give me a narcotic, he says "No one should have to go without adequate pain relief" I say "AMEN"!!!!! I start a day treatment program at the pain clinic on Wednesday, hopefully they will have received his report by then. The Zanaflex is my newest med and it does make it hard to get awake in the a.m., I am drinking 4-5 cups of coffee just to get going, I hope that levels off soon!! beth
Guest guest
Beth, It sounds like you have a good Dr., mine also believes that no one should have to be in constant pain! When i was at 2700mg daily I needed agood 3 cups in the Am to get me going. Good luck with the pain clinic visit. -Sharon, NY In RSD-CRPSofAmerica , " Beth " <bjones@n...> wrote: > , > > I have been on Neurontin since August. Started at 300 mg 3x day, am now up to 2100 mg. Guest guest
, No, have not heard of that. I am hoping the sleepiness will ease off, they have been adjusting the doses lately, added another 300 mg Neurontin at bedtime and added the Zanaflex at 2 mg last week and this week up to 4 mg. I hope I will feel more awake in another week or so if they will leave the doses there for awhile. I have been so flared again this weekend, have been to PA to the TOS Dr and back on Friday, cleaned house yesterday nad had the youth from our church out for a bonfire/weiner roast last night. Didn't have to do any of the actual shopping, hauling food, etc, just provided a place to have it and my husband got the wood chopped, etc, so don't know why so bad today, am blaming it on the cold weather, I am just dreading the winter I know it makes me so much worse. How does the Prevagil work? If this sleepiness continues I may want to ask my Drs abt it. Thanks, beth
