Hi Krissy,

I checked out 's pictures and he is a cutie, just like his

shirt says . It looks like he did really well with the casting

too. He does have significant flatness and I really think you are

doing the right thing w/the helmet. At his age he should get

excellent correction with an experienced ortho. Every appt after

the casting is completely non-invasive so you guys have nothing to

worry about! From now on it will just involved putting the helmet

on and off and looking at him. It certainly must make you feel

better now that you've met Lori and know that they're having a good

experience there. Hannah has needed three DOCbands b/c after the

first one (she grew out of it pretty quickly-10wks I think) she was

still considered moderate. She graduated from #2 in November and we

took a few months off. We were hoping to see some additional post

graduation self rounding, but if anything her head looked worse than

better. When us moderators went to the conference in Arizona we had

her head digitized and there are pics of what it looks like now in

her folder. Cranial Tech thought she could still get some rounding

and we still weren't happy w/the shape, so we decided to go for it.

I knew I would regret it if I didn't get her another and her head

never improved on its own. She does not have tort, but does have a

tilt. As far as the neuro's letter, he would have been fine w/me

stopping after the first band. Neuro's are overall more concerned

w/the brain and such than cosmetic appearance, so I think that

explains his idea on the length of treatment. I think it is

impossible to really know how long you'll have a helmet. They may

give you an estimate of how long it will fit, but just b/c a baby

grows out of it doesn't mean their treatment should be finished.

Also, brachy can take longer to correct than the classic plagio

shape. How neat you are from the Cape! I grew up in Marstons Mills

(graduated from Barnstable High in 1997), then moved to Yarmouth,

and now live in Mashpee! Do you visit often? I agree about loving

the summers on the islands. My brother is a summer cop on

Nantucket, so it's a great excuse to go visit!
