Guest guest
Hello All, Well its been exactly 1 year that my son has been (strictly) on the SCD. Wow! what a year its been! Overall, he has made such great progress! There were many rough patches along the year; a few regressions, but soon after significant leaps forward. Now 5 years old, my son speaks 9+ word sentences (appropriately).; after just speaking in 3 word sentences at the start of the diet. He expresses his wants and needs, and is now beginning to be quite helpful around the house; answering the telephone and forwarding the phone to either my husband or myself correctly. He's developed friendships at school, and eagerly wakes each morning happily requesting to go to school. A year ago, he would have tantrums in the car on the way to school. He plays with his younger 2 year old sister constantly, playing hide and seek, ring aroung the rosy, pretend sleeping games, and they can often be heard harmonizing songs together. A year ago he was biting her in the face if she interrupted his isolated play. Although he could be quite aggressive, he's always been afftection with everyone in the family in general. Now he's genuinely loving, and verbally expresses that he loves us all the time! He looks healthy, has regular BM's daily, after moving once weekly for 2 year prior to starting the diet. He is almost always happy, and when he's not happy, he can now tell us so, and sometimes can even tell us why he may be sad! What a gift this diet has been for my family! He still continues to have some ASD symtoms. He occasionally scripts a commercial or parts of a favorite video; however no where near as much as he used to. He still has some motor planning issues, which makes it a bit difficult to keep a conversation going back and forth a few turns, but he's definitely improving in this area as well. Hopefully, by keeping him the diet, along with all the natural supplements, and homeopathy, and remedial therapies, he'll completely recover one day! I'm just so grateful that he's come this far. Thank you Elaine, for all your wisdom!!!, and to all others who have supported us along the way (answering my endless questions), through your encouraging often very inspiring emails. God bless you! and wish you all success with your love ones! Lili, mom to 5 y.o. ASD, now 1 year SCD!!!!! Yeaaahhh!
