Guest guest
I realize this is a very individual thing but I'm wondering how much Armour people are taking especially men who are roughly the same size as I am; 47 year old white male, 200 lbs, fairly athletic. Here's the quick background.... Started taking Synthroid six years ago even through I felt pretty good but my TSH was 54.9. The doctor told me, " take some Synthroid and you'll feel even better " kind of like it was a vitamin supplement or something. From the moment I started taking it I felt worse. Doctor said " it takes time " . It did, it's taken all of my time for the last six years. Over the years I've tried Cortef for adrenal insufficiency, all kinds of vitamins. Talked to the who's who or endocrinology, Greenspan, Shames, Arem, Lowe. Varied doses of Synthroid from 137 - 225 with and without a small amount of Cytomel. There's no magic dose. Tried timed release T3 only a la and that was horrible. The problem is I look GREAT!!!! But I feel terrible and live in the fog now. Even reading is hard. I seem to be most stable at 162 mcg of Synthroid with 5 mcg of Cytomel but I still feel terrible. At that dose my TSH is almost completely suppressed, around 0.4. I tried Armour briefly two years ago but only got to 2gr/day. So anyone care to share what they think my final/optimal dose of Armour might be? I'm guessing somewhere between 3 and 6 gr/day. What do you guess will be my therapeutic range? Switched from 162Syn/5Cyt today to 3gr Armour. Wish me luck. Thanks, PS. Gave up on doctors and am self-medicating. A part of my problem is probably too much self experimentation. The only thing I think I haven't explored is two iffy root canals on lower molars which bother me at times.
