Guest guest
Hi- I just wanted to welcome you to the group- I know you will get a lot of advice regarding your post. My daughter is not really having any problems with her band- but did you check some of the archived messages on this subject yet? I am sure you are not the only one whose baby was not comfortable with the band. Sorry I couldn't be of more help- but I know someone out there will be. Guest guest
Hi there, My son wore the same Danmar helmet and he also started at 5 1/2-6 months old. (actually he was just a week shy of being 6 months) He actually adjusted rather well. I found that in the begininng if he got mad it was usually because he was really hot and sweaty under his helmet. (and that usually occured at his nap time) We got his in the fall and also live in the metro area, so the weather was unpredictable and it was hard to dress him to keep him warm enough, but yet cool enough. Once we were able to dres him better and found less of a sweaty head we had less of a problem. Our helmet was blue also you can see it under C. That was it undecorated on his first day. We were treated out of U of M and i know some other babies from my son's gymboree class who were also treated with this helmet through Providence hospital and childrens. I think actually one was also seen at the Detroit W & F office. Where was your other son treated? We had good success and the other kids in my sons gymboree class have also had great success, the parents are very happy. All of them have graduated now except for one and he is only wearing his at night for one more month to get any extra little growth while the helmet still fits. Good luck!! He looks happy and handsome asleep in his helmet in the photo! > Hello- > I am new to this board and have found it extremely helpful. Guest guest
Hi Tara! Welcome to the group! I really hope Ethan gets used to his helmet soon. They give you a long time to get him up to 23 hrs. With a DOC it's 23 hrs the first day basically, but w/frequent red spot checks. Looks like Tuesday will be a testing day for both of us! How long do they think Ethan will be wearing it? Hannah will probably be in hers until the summer at least. We're planning a trip out to MI in June or July probably, and I'm assuming she'll still have it then. Hannah adjusted fine in the past, but did have a little tougher time sleeping the first couple days. It also takes awhile for their heads to adjust to the new temp and stop sweating so much. You can take it off and wipe the sweat out more frequently if you think that could be what's bothering him. I would think that at his young age it should be second skin to him in no time. They boys are adorable . Let us know how Ethan continues to adjust in the upcoming days. > Hello- > I am new to this board and have found it extremely helpful.
