Guest guest
I had some recommendations for good Drs in London so i sent an email to several with an overview of my diagnosis, symptoms and current treatment /mistreatment and a request for information about what they would be able to do for me-including information about their views on Armour thyroid. I had 2 replies right away suggesting that my adrenals were probably compromised as well as being hypothyroid and that Armour would be a good medication for me. So i chose the Dr who was most sympathetic in email and who also offered to see me as an urgent case. I saw the Dr on Wednesday and the verdict is that i am seriously ill but not mentally ill : He examined me thoroughly- did all my reflexes and took time to go over all my previous medical history and current hypothyroid symptoms -he gave me a list of symptoms to tick which ones applied and then went over how they affected me. -my thyroid is in a really poor state and my adrenals are more than likely very exhausted. I also have a mass of cysts on each ovary [again]. My goitre has grown loads since the ultrasound in october -i had thought the right hand side was reaching round my throat but wondered if i was imagining things. The Dr was shocked that i hadn't noticed the pain from the cysts but to be honest, i had noticed ; it was just not any more noticeable or remarkable than the other pains and symptoms i have- they all blend in together. I have to have a test done on my adrenals before he can do too much regarding treatment [if i get proper doses of hormone without addressing any adrenal problems my adrenals could burn out and leave me with a permanent adrenal problem and also its likely that fixing my adrenals will help the cysts and also an improved thyroid replacement regime will help too] but in view of my hugely swollen tongue, he has doubled my current low dose of thyroxine [over the next week] to try and slow down the infiltration of my tongue. Once i get the adrenal results i can start armour and adrenal support and supplements We discussed the meaning of health and how i did not want to be left after treatment with no physical symptoms but no creative life or ability to read fiction and he was absolutely in agreement with that. He thinks that natural thyroid extract will be the way to go because it supplies all of the missing hormones - he hasn't come across anyone with a switched off right brain before I go back and see him in early March when I'm over visiting London for the London Book Fair and i hope that the slight increase in dose with at least make things a bit easier. Travelling by plane or underground with no short term memory was not fun and also at times i have to use my left arm to lift my right arm and carrying a 3 kilo bag was too much effort. [i find this so awful when i was previously extremely strong ] I am pretty wiped out by the travelling and also picking up a tummy bug -but at least i feel i am on the right track. I will be getting a salivary adrenal panel done when the test tubes arrive [monday hopefully] -- Best regards, Alison http://www.alisonashwell.com mailto:alison.ashwell@... new work uploaded http://www.artwanted.com/alisonashwell http://www.voodoochilli.net/artists/alisonashwell/
