Guest guest
Hi Eileen, We had the same problem with the " Blues " here in Michigan. We called our BC/BS rep, and she manually corrected our denials. Seems like there may have been a software glitch on their end. Good Luck-keep fighting for what is rightfully yours! Kim , MPT Director of Rehabilitation Services North Oakland Medical Centers 461 W. Huron Pontiac, MI 48341 Office Pager modified barium swallows For those who also manage speech therapy - has anyone been receiving denials for CPT 92611 (motion fluoroscope eval of swallow)? We had been billing for both the radiology aspect of the exam as CPT 74230 and the SLP portion of the exam as CPT 92611; however this month we are getting the bills back stating that 92611 is a " service not paid separately " . I have received no transmittals / updates etc regarding this. Has anyone else running into this? Eileen Casey, PT Dir. Guest guest
Hi Eileen, We have had the same thing happen to us here in California on outpatient Medicare charges. Generally my SLP's like to have the patient come to the office first for an initial visit to assess them and prepare them for the MBSS. Then they schedule the swallow study in Radiology, which is done by the SLP with a Rad Tech assisting. We cannot figure out why we are getting these denials ( " Service not paid separately " ), but we are currently doing a trial of putting the 92611 charge on the same account # as the Radiology charge to see if that works. Maybe when Medicare sees two different account numbers it kicks it out? If you find out any information on this, please let me know.
