Guest guest
Greg, I know I'm butting in here....but, what's new? lol I had blocks done on my lower half....my Right leg. I had 6 Lumbar Sympathetic Blocks done....one a week for 6 weeks. My doctor at the time, wanted to see if they helped the more I had done, if they lasted longer each time I had them done. The longest they worked for me was 2 days. The next step was Bier Blocks. I was to have 4 of these done in 4 weeks. (I was riding in my car with my husband driving to Chicago and straight back in one day....1100 miles straight). Unfortunately, these also only lasted 2 days of relief. I say unfortunately because these made me go from a 9 to a 2 on the pain scale and stayed that way for almost the whole 2 days. I only had 3 of them done though. I went to have the 4th one done, and he wouldn't do it...but also didn't tell me why. Come to find out, somehow, he could tell that I was pregnant before I could! But....Unfortunately, None of the blocks helped me either. The next step was to go into the hospital for 5 days for the Catheter thing.... Tonia -------Original Message------- Barbara- Thank you for the feedback. One additional quesiton if you don't mind. Regarding the Stellate Gangilon blocks, we are aware of the need to be proactive in the initial 3 months, but still looking for what the norm is relative to timing of the blocks. For instance, is your experience twice a week for say 3 weeks or similar for the initial?..and then what is the wait for follow-up blocks if necessary ? We assume doctors have different treatment regimens, but wanted to see what others in the group have experienced. ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
Tonia- Thanks for the input..all is appreciated! I guess we are hoping that the initial blocks will put her into remission due to the newness of her RSD. Her initial appt went well with plans for a block tomorrow. Dr. Hashmi talked about a Brachial Plexus related block....either neck or under arm. His partner, Dr. Hooshmand will see her tomorrow. We are finding that different doctors seem to have their own block regimen including: Hooshmand - Depromedrol; Schwartzman - Kedamine, Kirkpatrick - Kenalog. It all seems to reinforce that RSD is not well understood. While RSD is new to us, the seriousness was made more apparent to my sister (patient) as well as her husband by seeing patients in the waiting room...a few from abroad and obviously in quite a bit of pain and having difficulty with mobility.
