I have normal skin on my feet now... but still have a couple of

calluses... I need new shoes.... but mine were so bad that I would get

deep cracks in the skin and sometimes infections and a LOT of pain. The

skin was so hard that it didn't want to flex when I walked.. that made me

walk funny....

My feet are sweating again too... I'd always had sweaty feet... but when

the skin got bad they stopped with the sweating.....

It does get better!

Hi, OM/Bev,

I have no idea whether it was the change from T4 only or the fact that the

replacement of Thyroid hormones was simply the right combination for

healing to start.... In reading your " symptoms " , mine would be " all of the

above " .

Everything " external " started changing to make me look and feel much older

than I was way back in the early 80s and continued through to 1999 when my

doctor switched me to Armour 120 mg. The first thing noticed was that my

depression disappeared within two weeks. About six weeks later I noticed

that the skin of my face had become slightly less dry. The skin on my arms

and legs seems to be still repairing itself and that seems dependent on how

much Vitamin C I am taking. When I drop the " C " below 1000 per day for too

long, my skin is where the response shows.

For the cracked feet problem, I finally began getting a pedicure done on a

regular basis. A softening agent is put into a warm water bath for the

feet and you soak for a bit before anything is done. Just that much feels

wonderful! But, in the course of completing a pedicure, the technician

massages the feet and lower legs (improved circulation and just feels

terrific!). A special " rasp " or " file " is used to go after the dried skin

on the feet. It may take a few sessions to get the skin back to " normal "

if this drying thing has been going on for too long. A soothing lotion is

used on the feet and lower legs, then the nails are worked on (trim,

cuticle removed, and polished). I had my feet done weekly for four weeks,

then backed off to every two weeks, and am now getting monthly

pedicures. My feet never have that dry skin thing anymore unless it is

summertime and they literally get " cooked " dry. There are foot creams that

can be used, but they work better after a few pedicures to get the dead

skin off and the healthy skin exposed.

My hair was the last thing to begin showing improving, but my hair dresser

told me that it only appeared that way. Yes, it was improving, but until

the new hair grows out enough to be seen, it really isn't seen. It took

three months or so to really begin to see it. It is still very fine, but

it is there! My hair still tends to be more fragile than before, so I use

few products on it for volume, shine, hold, etc.

The muscle pain did not improve much until recently when I was given an

extra 1/4 grain of Armour. I noticed the difference right away. I live in

the desert, and the doctors had told me it was weather related due to

arthritis. Yes, I have arthritis, but I stopped taking the meds for that

more than a month before my Armour dose was increased. I am thinking that

this is more closely related to Fibromyalgia...

Anyway, my point is that it took a long time for your body to stop working

as it was intended, so it is going to take time to see any improvement. We

seem to want improvement immediately, and that my be happening, but the

visual signs take longer to show up because of where we are looking for

them -- in areas that naturally take time to show changes.

I hope that some of the foregoing is of use to you.....

Dianne
