Thank You , as usual very well said.

I think this is just someone who hasn't seen us bashed on the listserve for a

while and wanted to keep the good ole ETMC/EMS " monster " in check, and the

amazing thing is that we get bashed for the local government calling us and

asking us what we can do for them. I guess it is our fault because we answer

the

phone. I'll give youse guys a news flash. We also answer our mail.

Thank You for your response. Don has a way with words that I do not and he

is good at getting the point across. I will most likely get flamed for my

previous response, but it really gets annoying to see those that want to bash

others not just ETMC based on little to no information.

I do believe that Don could not have written a better response. As a former

Operations Manager for R/M I too went through the city fire department taking

over. R/M provided a lot of the training to the very people that would be taking

over our jobs, but we held our heads high and performed without fault. And it is

true that some of our former employees as well went on to work for the fire

department and they are doing a fantastic job. Some individuals tried to blame

the company for losing the contract while others tried to blame the city. Unless

you are part of the RFP process and attend the endless meetings and debates, one

should be careful as to the statements one makes. I have never had the

opportunity to work for ETMC-EMS, but I have worked beside them at scenes with

another service in East Texas. They, like every other provider, must make a

profit to stay in business. No legitimate EMS provider would ever " pull out /

high and dry " . Again, one speaks without knowledge of the process, there are

many provisions put into place that protect/prevents this from happening.

Unfortunately, the fire department is having financial problems which has forced

them to close a fire station due to manpower and budgetary issues. However, I

know the fire chief personally and have for many years, as well as his staff.

The number one goal for them is to provide excellent service to the citizens

they serve. Do you think the fire department would just " pull out " and leave

their city " high and dry " ?

Neither would any of the larger, professional EMS providers including ETMC, R/M

or AMR.

And to answer your question regarding which pt. gets the paramedic...they both

do. Answer this, do you know how to accomplish this task? If you have ever had

the privilege of working as a paramedic with a EMT-B or EMT-I partner on a scene

like the one in question, then you know the answer. Or how about being the only

paramedic on a scene with multiple pt.'s, arriving before the rest of the gang,

and working it all by your self until the cavalry arrives?

> It's amazing the conversations here about services including ours (ETMC-EMS).

" Pulling " out of a county " high & dry " is about the furtherst thing from the

truth for this place. We serve counties and cities that cost us money and will

continue to indefinitely because we have strong loyalties to certain areas that

no other service would even consider. There is, however, sometimes a point of

loss that no company can continue to take on regardless of whose company it is.

Otherwise, preexisting services would probably still be serving these places.

When ETMC-EMS left Fannin county we provided training, ambulances, and ample

time for the fire department to take over with a smooth transition. A number of

their staff are former employees of ours. And they're durn-good people. Navarro

County was taken over by the choosing of the fire department who wanted the

service. They were enabled due to Paramedic training we provided. Good for them.

I know they do a fine job.

>

> I'll also use this opportunity to make another point. We have quality

operations in all areas due to the abilities of our field staff. It's not our

management that handles patients. It's quality people that have come from many

schools in our area of the state, from other areas of the state, and from

numerous other states. Rockwall probably has a fine service and the reason would

be their good field people too.

Hi all, I am new to Greenville Texas. I am a Kansas Certified EMT-B and was

wanting to get some info on the types of services they have in the Hunt co area.

Is there someone to make contact with concerning CE hours and transfering

Thanks-Cheryl

Welcome fellow Hunt County resident. Contact Dawn Cunningham at Hunt

County EMS 450-1133. I also recommend you put in an app at Presby

Greenville, they hire EMTs in the ER and floors. For your CE contact

Schooler, The Grand Poobaa of EMS in Hunt County, at Presby

Greenville.
