Hi Jody,

I posted the message titled " Keep Trying Everyone! " I would be

happy to describe Carson's SCD adventure. I have made several

mistakes along the way and I am still very frustrated with my

perpetual learning curves. Carson has been on SCD for about 7 weeks

now, but he has had numerous illegal foods as family members/teachers

etc. have not been able to transition as quickly as I would have

liked from GF/CF. I started on the 5 day transition diet (chicken

soup, SCD jello, bananas and cooked pears). Carson did aweful as he

already is EXTREMELY picky so he basically lived off of fruit- I felt

pushed into intro. nut flour on the 6th day (which he loved).

Originally I started with eggs (which he tested allergic to) and

butter in the muffins and pancakes. He did well for about 2 weeks and

then started displaying lots of " autistic " behavior. Finally, about 3

weeks ago I took out grapes, apples, raisins, and bananas as he has

reactions to those on GF/CF. I saw some improvement, but still I felt

he was doing worse rather than better. Now I am taking out eggs and

butter (the " Oh, Duh! " moment) and he is down to eating only fruit

and muffins as I can not find a good enough egg substitute to bind

the pancakes. Carson has never like meat and as to date has not eaten

ANY meat or ANY veggies no matter how I try and conceal them in SCD

baked goods. I have almost quit about 3 times, but my gut won't let

me- I know this is the best diet for him. Since I'm sharing - should

I remove nut flours (no more almond eaither - he is only eating

pecan) and force him to eat veggie and meat or keep giving him baked

goods? Thanks for your interest - I am unsupported by family and lost

when it comes to Carson's diet.

Have you tried any nut butter with Carson? My Jack isn't a big meat

eater, but he loves peanut butter on banana slices. He'll even eat

it off a spoon for a little snack.

I've never tried juicing, but do you think Carson would drink some

homemade juice? I've seen several juicing recipes here

lately...maybe you could hide some veggies in those.

It's really tough having a picky eater. I'm starting SCD over with

, because I never started him on the intro..just dove in! Well,

he is a toughy...only 2 yrs. old but definitely is a stubborn little

guy! He's turning his nose up to a lot right now...I caved and gave

him a little peanut butter on day 4...3 yucky diapers in a row

yesterday! So no more PB...I also believe in this diet. So just

try and hang in there :)
