Few things make my heart skip a beat and my blood run cold than the words: " get

caught up on vaccinations " . If she is dead set on getting all the vaccines on

the schedule, I would beg her to consider spacing them out as much as possible.

More than one vaccine in one day with your families history is asking for

trouble. The proverbial " recipe for disaster " .

I say the heck with worrying about offending her. Your nephew's future is at

stake. I would do everything I could to convince her not to let him have more

than one at time, never when he is sick, never when he is on any other

medication - especially antibiotics or Tylenol.

Good luck, I know you are in a tough spot!

>  , the best you can do is what you have done and that is to share

your knowledge.  It is scarey and difficult to decide whether or not to

vaccinate.  I have 4 children.  My daughters are older (21 and 20) and my sons

are 4 and 8(pdd-nos, adhd, anxiety) .  My daughter just had a baby.  It is almost

time to talk about vaccinations.  I'm concerned about my grandson as ASD is

prevelant in my family.  I gave her all the information I could share with her.

I pray she makes the right choice for her child. He is so precious. I find some

comfort in knowing what signs to watch for and know better now than to accept

" it's just coincidence " when a child screams for two weeks straight after a

vacc.  The way I see it, at the very least we are armed with information.  You

know what to watch for. Atleast she has you there to keep an eye on the things

she may not be keen to and you'll know how to spring into action if anything

should go wrong.

> That's the attitude I try to stick with to keep from worrying myself sick.

In the mean time, I pray for all our children each and every day.

>  Both of my boys have had ASD issues and now they are left with PANDAS among

other issues. My SIL has watched things go downhill, she has seen the progress

we have made and she has also seen my boys at the worst of pandas exacerbations.

She tells me all the time that she does not know how I do it. She knows it is a

nightmare and life-changing experience. She also knows that I highly suspect

that it comes from my mom's side of the family (she is married to my brother).

She has delayed many of my nephew's vaccines b/c of what we have been through,

but now she wants to get him caught up for school (he is 2.5 years old and going

into preschool part-time). He is so healthy and developing so normally (maybe

the slightest of speech delay) and it will just break my heart to see another

child in this family go backwards (my cousin's child also has ASD or is at least

borderline - same side of the family).

> I have given her all the explanations, she knows about the MTHFR defect in my

son, etc. How do I pass along more convincing information without being

completely overbearing? I have already said so much, I've told her she can go to

the state and get a religious exemption, etc. I told her it is so easy, no

questions asked.

> I think she is concerned that her child will be exposed to deadly illnesses as

school.

> Any advise? Should I just keep my mouth shut? I just don't want to see my

nephew suffer...
