Guest guest
, I just read your post and my heart goes out to you. Just 9 months ago I was right where you are now and I remember it like it was yesterday. I had been holding out hope for you to have more time, but I guess it just wasn't it the cards. I know how badly you must feel. Up until the second the Dr. told me it was time to start dialyis I was holding out thinking it would just get better and I wouldn't have to go through all of this stuff, but that didn't happen either. Your subject of Hope and Never Giving Up is absolutely wonderful and that's what you have to do. Look at me, 9 months later, new kidney (didn't think I was getting one at first either), and all is well. So just keep up that hope, and never give up, the attitude helps a whole lot. I hope that PD works out well for you and you don't have to do hemo from the neck too long, I know that was the worst part of the whole thing for me, so just think you are almost through the worst part, it's hopefully all downhill from here. Guest guest
Having a positive attitude always helps. It doesn't necessarily prevent having problems, but it sure helps to overcome them. Guest guest
and , Your e-mails have been very moving and it goes without saying that all best wishes and a 'spot of luck' are sent to you both. Positive thinking isn't always easy in adversity but it does work, two members of my family have overcome life threatening illnesses by fighting back mentally. If you do your bit and the Docs do theirs it can be a recipe for success. I saw on a documentary that just the physical act of smiling, even if its a false smile, releases positive things into the blood stream , which helps boost the immune system. Force yourself to watch a funny video and after laughing out loud, mentally, you do feel brighter. Sounds trivial, but I find it works even if I start out not wanting to watch it. I wish you both well. Sally UK
Guest guest
Hi Sally, and , It is definitely a small world out there. This morning when reading the paper " Dear Abby Section " I cut out a little phrase and actually taped it to my computer. (Not something that I would normally do, I don't like debris hanging on my computer or refrigerator!) It was advise given by a Doctor to her patient, smart lady I think, it read and I quote " Live one day at a time. Live each day to the fullest. Laugh heartily, love deeply, pray daily...and let the rest roll off " . (end quote) I loved it. I think that it is something that I can and should strive to live by...Just had to share it since it fit right into your conversation here. Guest guest
Hi and all, Firstly, I have been away for a week and am catching up on emails, so apologies for delays in replies. I thankyou for your email, it is important for us to lift each other up and in doing this we are lifting ourselves up. I too am going through a multitude of horrible things and this site supports me directly and indirectly so thankyou to everyone, even if we don't all talk directly to each other, we are often helping indirectly and that's fine. My mum just sent me a card with a picture of a lighthouse on it, it read; Some of life's storms are hard to understand and it's easy to lose our way, but if we look into our hearts, love's beacon will always guide us home again. I hope this lift's your spirits in some way as it did mine. All we need is one light in any storm so that we can successfully find our way home, and that light is within us all, we just need to find it sometimes. I am sure we all have something that can get us through, I don't mind reading your's and hope you don't mind reading mine. The power of positive thinking has resulted in miracles, so let's try this more often. Love Leonie (Sydney, Australia) Never give up Hi all- Well, it's been a rough two weeks for me. I was put back into the hospital because I was feeling rapidly worse, and my creatinine shot up out of nowhere to 6.2 within 2 days. I had a cafeter put in my chest, and I was started on emergency hemodialysis. I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I had a center picked out, and when that was all said and done I finally got to leave after being in there for 5 days. The Cytoxan was stopped, because after 5 treatments it just was not working. As you know, the route we are going now is transplant. I had an appointment with my doctor recently and he said at me being so young my best bet was CAPD, because of the fact that before a transplant I need to put some weight on. That cafeter will be put in on August 19th, and my overnight evaluation is early september. As far as donors, I am an A positive and I need either an A or O. My Mom, Grandma, and Aunt all came back B positive. Luckily though, my Grandpa and boyfriend both came back O positive, and my other Aunt in an A positive as well. I've gotten several offers from my church, so I believe that eventually a kidney will be found. I didn't take this as well as I usually take things. For awhile there I was basically crying constantly and giving up hope. An old woman at my hemodialysis center changed it all around for me. As I was walking out, she looked at me with her sweet face and said " Never give up suga' " . Boy did that change my attitude right back to the positive that I am used to being. I believe that is something we all need to hear sometimes. Igan is obviously not an easy thing to have, but if you keep your head up and keep the faith you are going to be just fine. It's amazing how much control we have over our emotions as human beings. And how much the attitude of others can affect us. Just that one little old lady significantly changed my way of thinking. Thank God for her. I hope you are all doing okay. And remember, never give up the hope. A positive and strong attitude is the best medicine. You all of course continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself God bless, Hope: Sometimes life seems to fall apart a little at a time, and we want to fold up our dreams and put them away. Then from somewhere inside there comes a song of courage and we know we can never give up. Hope is that song we sing to ourselves. Although it may be difficult to hear, it is always there for us, deep within our hearts.
