Hi Group -

We are beginning to implement a functional capacity eval program at our

clinic and I had a few questions. Hopefully those that have a program

in place can assist... One major issue I'm concerned with is developing

some sort of waiver to cover our clinic during the FCE's. Any helpful

hints on covering all aspects of an FCE would be greatly appreciated.

Also, when doing an FCE, can we charge for a 97001 and 97750 or does the

97750 encompass a PT eval?

Thanks!

97750 covers all aspects of the FCE, including the initial assessment, actual

performance of the tasks being evaluated, and the report.

What type of waiver are you referring to?

Regarding a waiver, I mean something that released the clinic from

liability if the client gets hurt (perhaps from an undisclosed injury)

but I'm thinking also needs to encompass some words on the composition

of return to work evals - such as the tests are customized based on the

employer's requirements and client's job duties. I also want to make

clear that the client will have control over progression of the test and

will not be coached or motivated in any way. I feel it needs to be more

stringent than the informed consent we get from traditional PT clients.
