Guest guest
Pure butter is casein free. It is even allowed on GFCF. It is also called ghee. Which recipes called for dairy products are in the dairy free section? There is always the possibility that I have placed some in the wrong place on accident. Some kids cannot tolerate butter even though it is casein free. I am curious as to why some kids cannot tolerate coconut butter. I don't recall many people saying that their child could not tolerate coconut butter. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 13 months
Guest guest
Lynn, When a recipe calls for butter, you can either use ghee (clarified butter-no casein), coconut oil/butter or in some recipes you can use liquid oil such as safflower oil. Coconut oil and liquid oil are " wetter " than oil and would require less, about 3/4 of the amount usually. Nut butter would not replace butter in a recipe. Guest guest
Uh, Lynn, What else is in the " cookie mix " besides macadamia nuts? Would nut butter or tahini work? or would it be > better to use vegetable shortening? Guest guest
Jody, If I read right , it is suggested to start nut butters way before nut flour. What is everybody putting the butter on, especially if you haven't used the flour yet? Just eating a scoop plain? I played around the other day with brazilnuts, roasted and deskinned them (5 pounds) and ground about 3 - 4 lbs. into a flour, course grind, a tiny bit nut butter. (by accident) It is sitting in my fridg. waiting for when we are allowed to intro.
