Hi

My son has had his DOC Band on for 3 1/2 months now. Suddenly - the band is rubbing the hair off in a quarter sized spot on the back of his head.

The Cranial Tech people say it's from the band but that they can't carve out that part of the band cause it's a "peak point" and would mess things up.

Has this happened to anyone else? DOES THE HAIR GROW BACK?????

I would rather deal with loss of hair than an abnormal head shape that can lead to vision/jaw problems. But I am thinking and HOPING that the hair will grow back.

Anyone had experience with this??

Hi Jeannette,

Don't worry, the hair DOES grow back. The same thing happened to my

baby. She just turned 3 and you'd never know she once had a bald

spot. Once they graduate their hair grows back in.

Hey Jeannette,

Lots of babies actually get this bald spot where they lay/sleep on.

Even those not in bands. Hair grows back, don't worry. This is a

very common thing with or without helmet.

Jeannette,

Yes, the hair will grow back. We had a little

thinning of hair, but Dh's holding spots were probably

different than your son's. How many babies do you see

that have a little bald spot on the back of their head

where it rests against the swing, car seat, bed, etc?

A lot right? So, how many 2 year olds do you see with

the same spot? None.

Keep having CT check the spot and make sure you're not

getting any breakdown. Ask them the same question

every time to put your mind at ease. However, don't

worry too much it sounds like that point is holding

and doing it's job very well.

Jeanette,

I see that others have already replied to you but wanted to assure

you even further that the hair loss is not a problem. It will grow

back in a jiffy, just as soon as the band is off for good.

yep! For us it was on a pressure point on his bulging side and it

grew back quite quickly after graduation. His hair (dime size area)

was a little thin for awhile but after about 2 months was fine,
