Mia mentioned that it was strange that our Ped referred us to a

plastic surgeon for plagio. Has anyone else been referred to a

plastic surgeon rather than a neurologist?

Would you recommend calling and asking prior to the visit if he is

familiar with plagio/banding? I guess I'm not sure what to ask or

where to go if this dr isn't familiar.

Sherryl - my daughter sees a Ped. Plastic Surgeon for plagio - I

believe it is pretty common - mine is definately well experienced,

but it never hurts to ask for credentials and experience.

-We saw a pediatric plastic surgeon, acutally their nurse

practioner. It wasn't weird and actually makes a lot of sense. THey

rule out craniosyntosis and if that were the problem or something

else was the problem they work in conjunction with neruologists, and

a whole list of other dr's. Ours worked in part with the

craniofacial anomolies clinic -included cleft palate, craniosyntosis,

plagio and many other craniofacial anomolies.

Dr. Stelnicki, who operates in South FLorida, is also a pediatric

plastic surgeon. He is caring for my daughter's plagio and brachy

and is well regarded.

We see a ped. plastic surgeon for Connor's plagio and tort. I don't

think it is that uncommon to see one for plagio. Ours is very

familiar with plagio and treats quite a few cases. If you are

concerned, you could call his office and ask them.
