Weight regain....the ugly truth

Hey gang,

I hope you all have been enjoying a wonderful holiday. I want to

thank everyone that sent me recipes. The food came out wonderfully.

I was very cautious about how much and what I ate. I have been

fighting another rise on my scale ...its been off and on, usually

water weight or " other " issues. Unfortunately, this time my weight

gain is of the hard kind to get rid of. I have watched the scale

climb steadily now a pound here and tehre for about 6 wks. At first

I just figured I was freaking out about nothing like the last two

times. When I realized I could no longer wear ANY of my jeans, I

knew I was in trouble. I weighed in at 156 today and for those of

you who have been following me, thats about a 14# gain. So whats the

deal? How in the world in 6 wks could I have eaten the extra 49,000

calories that it would take for me to gain that much weight while

not noticing? well I couldn't have. The it hits me...6 wks ago my

doctor started me on a new medication for anxiety. I was having

problems with stress management and anxiety and knew that I needed

to find new ways of coping other than turning to food as my comfort.

She put me on this medication and its been a blessing...except the

main side effect is weight gain. I talked to my step mother who is a

psychologist and she said " oh yeah..it shuts down your metabolism. I

hear it all the time " . So the ugly truth...either I find a way to

beat the weight while taking it, or I quit and have to start working

off the 14#s I gained. Im quitting the med.

Just to add insult to injury, since I have not one pair of pants I

can slide over my newly found big azz, I went shopping tonight with

my daughter. Wrong thing to do! The only good thing to come out of

that trip is I left the store with exercise clothes in hand and a

new reason to exercise LOL Not one pair of the 12 pairs of jeans I

liked fit me. YUCK!

So...I sit here in sweaty gem clothes remembering how much I hate to

exercise but glad I bought " Disco Inferno " to listen to while I do

it LOL

Phat Kat LOL
