Hi!

I had a mastectomy and had no pain what so ever. I never took any pain meds at the hospital either so I can't help you out there. Maybe some of the other ladies can answer your question for you. I will keep you in my prayers.

Post op pain relief

Thank you all for the kind welcome. I know I said I needed someone to yell at, but since I am not usually one to yell, that was probably all there was to it ! Just knowing that I can yell at someone seemed to relieve the need to. LOL I saw my surgeon today and my surgery is set for Jan 7th. I will have a lumpectomy and sentinel nodes dissection. What do you all suggest for post op pain relief? Do hot and/or cold packs help? I would like to have these things available if they are of benefit.I am still so early in the process that I do not know what questions to ask you all yet!

I also had a mastectomy and would only say the pain was annoying, not

that much pain. Morphine was offered right after surgery but I just

didn't want it. I took hardly anything in the hospital, maybe a

tylenol or two in the first few days. Then, nothing after that.

About your lumpectomy I don't know. I wouldn't fear it at all, pain

wise. You are just nervous about results, I know.

That part all passes when you know the pathology of your tumor and

your treatment plan gets worked out and is clearer. Then, I

gradually became MUCH calmer.

Same here but I do have a high tolerance for pain so ask if you need

something. Doris

Hi,

I am sorry I can't help you with the pain relief questions.

I had a mastectomy and haven't been in any pain at all (they cut

through all the nerves), did not even take (or wanted) painkillers

and although 15 nodes were removed, I was driving my car 5 days

after the op.

But I am sure other ladies on here can answer your question.

I wish you good luck and will keep everything possible crossed for

your op in January!!

Hugs,

Ike
