Guest guest
Hi, My family has been on the diet 5 months and we found my son to be extremely sensitive to salicylates and phenols. We than switched from almond flour to pecan flour, which since I switched my kids and I have had soft stools and not sure why. I feel as if we are starting over, like the beginning of the diet. We have even taken extra yogurt pills to try and eliminate this problem. Could this be a problem when you switch flours? Thanks and God bless, Kim Mom of Kerrin 11yrs old ADHD & Tourettes and Lia 6 yrs old- healthy.
Guest guest
Kim, Try hazelnut flour. If that does not work then try baking with macademia nuts. If your child cannot tolerate these nuts, then do SCD without any nuts until there is more gut healing. You can also bake with beans by making your own bean flour. Since you have been on the diet for 5 months, there is a chance your son might be ready for bean baked goods. All the best,Mimi > Hi, My family has been on the diet 5 months and we found my son to > be extremely sensitive to salicylates and phenols. Guest guest
Hi Kim, It might be the skins on the pecans. Chances are that the almonds were blanched, and since the skins are still on the pecans they might be irritating. The skins can be gas forming for some (more fiber in the skins). Are you able to try a nut flour which is blanched (besides the almonds) to see if that makes a difference?
