My name is . I posted here awhile back about my son Maddux

(now 4 months old). At the time I thought he had Plagio combined

with Tort. He had a well check on March 11 with a new more through

ped. He ordered an immediate CT scan of my sons head. We got the

results back on Monday and he was diagnosed with Lamboid

Craniosynostosis. We are going next month to a neurosurgeon at

Childrens Hospital in Oklahoma City. I know this is a forum for

Plagio but, I was wondering does anyone here know anything about

this condition? I have searched and read everything I can and still

have not come up with a straight answer. Everything I read is

conflicting. Thank you so much.

Hi ,

I'm sorry, but I don't have any experience with your son Maddux's

diagnosis - but I'm sure it would help to communicate with other

parents in your same situation. The Cappskids website link you were

given in an earlier reply will be a good place to start - it can be

a huge source of comfort to speak with other parents who have

experience in cranio. I know they really are a caring and

supportive group. They may even know about getting second opinions,

and CT scan interpretation if you have any questions about that, and

I'm sure they can answer your questions about the " conflicting "

information you have come across.

Take care,

Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy)

Wow....you had your whole thyroid removed because of one nodule?

Was it hot?...cold?

You said you have had trouble for most of your adult life...so things were

ok with you as a child?

Do you recall having any specific childhood illnesses...virus, or fever etc...

prior to you developing thyroid trouble?

Have you always taken synthetic medication, and is the Prozac to help balance

your mood, or is it to mimimize depression for you?

Sorry for so many questions...but it sounds like there could be an

underlying missed condidtion for your thyroid trouble...

Very similar to my sister in law..who underwent RAI.

It was a " cold " nodule, ie: not malignant. The only chronic health problems that

I recall from childhood is ear infections. Mostly attributed to spending lots of

time swimming in the ocean. I grew up in Miami, and spent most of my free time

at the beach. Which brings me to the topic of iodine. In my own throid research,

it has been suggeted that people who live near the sea and spend time bathing in

it seldom develop these problems. Interestingly, my illness developed after

living for several years many miles inland, near Lake Tahoe. Don't know if

there's a connection, but ...

As for the Prozac, it's a minimal dose prescribed to alleviate depression. I

suppose it takes some of the edge off, as I am not feeling deeply depressed, but

I still do not feel that I am enjoying life to it's fullest.

I am curious about alternatives to the meds I am on, and I intend to discuss

Alivar with my Doctor at my next appt (in three weeks).

I've read many emails from the group and not come across others who are living

life without a thyroid, hence my quest...thanks for your response.
