Guest guest
darin, that's a good mental prompt for starters, but i need more... for instance, the name of the actors/actresses, or their characters... or the name of the director, anything... to have any hope of conjuring up the name of the movie. if you're willing to give it a try, then so will i ;-) maureen (who will admit she's watched far too many movies in her lifetime, but doesn't regret that, not a bit. latest recommendation -- the pianist, the academy award-winner directed by roman polanski. i had no respect for polanski's personal life, and little more for his artistic legacy, but wow, this film elevates all my previous perceptions... as it is obvious this first-rate cinematic effort was very near and dear to his heart. has anyone out there seen the film? i lost it -- absolutely started bawling -- when i saw the can opener, near the end of the film. be forewarned this is no easy cinema experience... but very worthwhile, and easier for me in some ways than schindler's list. the pianist is based on the autobiography of wladyslaw szpilman, a virtuoso performer whose playing was the last thing heard on free polish radio, prior to the nazi invasion. adrian brody -- who starved himself while playing the lead in this film -- gives an amazingly successful performance, because the audience can really experience the war, the holocaust, and the warsaw ghetto through his eyes... and through the musical genius of chopin, no less) [mail] Peg - Dad...I recall in a movie, Maureen probably will inform us of which one :-), the actor lost a son andwas getting more and more perturbed when acquaintances mentioned that his son is in a better place now...
