Fruity Pebbles is my little celiac's favorite Saturday cereal - so

much so that when he saw instructions for making a Pebbles version of

rice crispy treats in Parents Magazine, he insisted that was what he

wanted for his birthday treat at school. So this past Monday, all of

Pre-K, teachers included, had " snow " covered Christmas bars (red &

green holiday Pebbles with white frosting squiggles). Not a crumb was

left over, I swear the tupperware I sent them in had been licked clean.

Yes, the Fruity Pebbles are gluten-free. However, Rice Krispies are

not... they contain malt of some sort. You'll have to stick with

EnviroKidz GF cereals, or another designated GF version.

Most readily available cereals have some sort of malt in them and

they are also very suspect for cross contamination as reported by

others who have eaten them (I have not personally). This is just a

friendly reminder to proceed with caution! You can't have any of the

Chex cereals, nor Kellogg's Rice Krispies.

Cocoa Pebbles are GF, too.

Also, have you yet found Crunch'ems cereal? They have a corn type and

a rice type that are just like Chex cereal, without the malt!

(Imagine not adding gluten and having it being low sugar...amazing!

Lol!) Now, if only I could find a GF cereal with fiber.

I remember discovering Fruity Pebbles were okay, too. (Yes! The

excitement!) I suddenly imagined there would be lots of GF mainstream

cereals out there and read box after box only to be totally

disappointed.

One last thing, I would love the rice crispy treat recipe using the

Pebbles. Could someone post or link it, please? Thank you!

The closest rice krispy gf substitute I have found is Erewhon's Crispy

Brown Rice. It is crunchy like Kellogg's Rice Krispies and it doesn't

get soggy when you make rice krispy treats with it! It also comes in a

new berry variety with dried strawberries, raspberries and blueberries

in the cereal. My kids loved it. They said it reminds them of

Kellogg's Red Berry cereal. I get it at Whole Food's. I haven't tried

the treats made with Fruity Pebbles yet, it just sounds like it will be

so sweet!! I'll bet the kids would love them though!
