Guest guest
HI to all Just an update on Annie-Mae. We are still waiting to find out at a second opinion appointnment if she has cranio, microcephaly or plagio!!!! She is doing well although still struggling to put on the weight. She will be 7 months this week and still only 14.4. (just over 5 lbs since birth). Her head hasn't really grown since 5 wks old. depending if you include a ridge at the back of her head she 41cm or 42.5cm. Can't give an accurate cm because everyone measures differently. We are noticing her head shape now and she still has ridges (coronal and behind the ears). As you can see from the picture she is starting to get some facial things. Her right side seems to be slightly further forward. Her ears are not even and I have noticed he chin is more on one side. Annie has quite a bit of hair so hides a lot of the problem. She is starting to get what a would call a square shape to the front of her head. Flat sides and quite high. The back of her head is quite small.I do have one question though. I had Annie-Mae in her vest the other day on my lap (back to me) and noticed that her left shoulder was lower than her right. I have never considered her to have tort but is this a sympton. Also Annie- Mae only managed to roll onto her her side for the first time yesterday. Is this another sympton. She can sit with me holding her hips or propped up against something(strength must be there) but is all over the place if left to try and sit on her own. Another sympton? Sorry for so many questions but Annie-Mae stil hasn't had a def dx and it feels like time is slipping away. I am going to try and take some pictures tonight after her bath with wet hair. Can I possibly mail them to anyone who can give me an opinion? Thanks in advance

Guest guest
I would just like to thank Hannah's mom for getting back to me about the problems Annie-Mae is experiencing. I will try and put the wet look pictures on the board tonight. If anyone else can answer some of the questions I asked pls feel free as my husband and I need as much information as possible in case Annie-Mae is starting to go down hill. We are really hoping it is plagio not cranio but anything rather than microcephaly as this means rhe brain isn't growing. So your answers would be really helpful for when we go and see her drs. If there are any moms out there that know about microcephaly that would be really helpful too. Thanks again best wishes Re: Update on Annie-Mae Hi,Thanks for posting the update on Annie-Mae. Guest guest
Hi, It is good to see a post from you! Thank you for posting an update on Annie-Mae. I see where you are awaiting a second opinion appt on her diagnosis... did you have a first opinion since your last post with us, and what did they say?? When will you have your second- opinion appt.? I hope you are able to get a definitive diagnosis soon so that you can start down the path of appropriate treatment - I know the waiting must be so frustrating. I'm glad she is doing well. My daughter Remy was a skinny-minny, always in the 5% weight percentile, and I don't think she was quite 20 lbs at 1 year. Because we repo'd her in a walker a lot of the time, she really didn't like to sit, nor sit well for a long time. I wish I could help you out more with tort symptoms or microcephaly, but I don't know much about either subject! Would you post when you get Annie-Mae's second opinion? Take care, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > HI to all > > Just an update on Annie-Mae. Guest guest
Hi , I am sorry I am just now replying to this, but I was away over the weekend. Have you been able to post any pictures on the board here? You mentioned sending them. All you'd have to do is upload them to the site. I am sure you will get opinions then. It is hard to make any suggestions with a description alone. My daughter never had tort, but many many parents on this board are very experienced with it because of the PT they went through with their own children. I don't know if the lower shoulder could indicate tort, but it sounds like there is a possibility. I would imagine that a tight neck muscle could lift the other sholder higher. I am sure a mom or dad will chime in soon about that. I hope your 2nd opinion comes back soon and you can begin the necessary treatment. Please keep us posted. , mom to Makenna LLUMC helmet grad. > HI to all > > Just an update on Annie-Mae. Guest guest
Hi, just wanted to add that my 7 month son has left tort and is a brachy. We just found out last week that although his neck is almost resolved with PT, his lack of muscle tone in shoulders, back, and side continues to cause a tilt. So now in addition to the neck exercises, we do side, back, and shoulders. I honestly didn't see the asymmetry in his shoulders until she pointed it out. His left shoulder is lowered and lacks the muscle tone of the right. The PT said babies with tort have asymmetrical bodies too. was squished head down with on top of him the whole pregnancy. We are hoping if we strengthen that whole left side his tilt will finally be resolved. He is more wobbly than his brother when sitting due to ( I think) uneven muscle tone on the two sides. After a while he will lean left. We did have to get his hips checked because they said that hip displacement was common in tort, but that thank God came out normal. Hope this helps, -----Original Message-----From: sarahjh2004 [mailto:mark.hill187@...] Sent: Sunday, June 06, 2004 5:16 AMPlagiocephaly Subject: Update on Annie-MaeHI to allJust an update on Annie-Mae.
