,

I get those all the time. I even get them to myself from myself at a bogus

email address. I've done everything I can to stop them. I have cleaned my

computer every way I can think of short of reformatting. I don't think the bad

ones are coming out of here but probably at one time some did.

I never open those emails and immediately report them to AOL and block them

with my spam blocker. Also have a firewall program, but I'm not sure at all

that some things can't get in and may be living in the dark caverns of my

system.

I¹ve gotten several things like that for some reason. I am on a Mac so

there is a 100% chance it won¹t affect me. Anyway< I just delete them right

If you want you can send me the info on the IP address info the full

header and the path and I can run some checks and at a 90% chance get

the sending IP address blacklisted with ORBS and Mail Abuse. Since most

of the big providers and even some of the local small town providers set

their mail servers up to check at the very least the orbs list that

would effectively stop the person from sending the mail then again if

they spoofed the IP address the path would tell you where it really came

from.

If you want some info on that I would be glad to give you an intro into

spam 101 :)

P.S. I used to be a BOFH in my previous life :)

I'm running McAfee Virus Scan Online. Is Norton better?

Since I installed McAfee I have only had one virus sneak through, and it was

one that got through before I started doing a daily update. I haven't had one

since then.

Anybody have any comments about which program is better?

Norton, McAfee are both good. They are usually very close getting new virus

protection. One day Norton will be first, then McAfee.

Not wanting to push a product I once had the cih virus on several computers

You do have to update it regularly, certainly at least monthly. On a

supposedly 56K modem, which can only manage a 33K connex (no DSL here),

this takes about 12-15 minutes.

A " professional " version is available, whereby you pay an annual fee of

around $20, but all I can see that you get for this is email messages about

new viruses as they appear, and notice that Update # 270.30.5 (say)

corrects this problem. Support is no better, for your $20. Oh, you do get

an email addr., to which you can post a query, but the answer may seem

almost cryptic.

No complaints, tho. Great program.
