Guest guest
, Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how you make out. Remember it's not up to the specialist whether or not to band or baby or when, it's YOUR decision to make. The younger a baby is banded the better and faster the correction. If the place you're going to uses passive helmets you really need to get the ball rolling. Head growth slows significantly. > We have our 2nd appt. with the plastic surgeon tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi . I think 5 1/2 to six months is really at the end of when you'd see some spontaneous correction, or when repo can be most effective. If you are really convinced that Connor will benefit from a helmet, then make that clear to the doc; even insist on a prescription, don't be shy. I freely admit to being very agressive about early treatment, becasue we got the runaround from all the docs for months wanting to wait and see, and in the end our daughter was approved for treatment like we always expected, and we absolutely regret the lost time and opportunity for early intervention. Remember, no one is as good an advocate for your kid as you are. Anyway, that's just my advice. Good luck Matt > We have our 2nd appt. with the plastic surgeon tomorrow. Guest guest
, I hope your appt. goes well tomorrow! Have you seen any great improvement in Connors' headshape since your last appt. with the plastic surgeon? Do you have any photos from around the time of that last appointment until now to take to the specialist for evaluation? If you are hoping that the specialist will recommend the band, speak up and tell them you are ready for Connor to have the band. They may indeed have a helmet/band recommendation, but hopefully they will write the prescription in such a way that you can choose the brand of your choice. Have you looked in the HELMET/BAND DATABASE in the DATABASE section of the group for any listed facilities near you? Maybe it would help to write down any questions you have tonight before you go to the appointment. There is a link to " Questions for the Doctor " here at the site in the LINKS/HELMETS AND BANDS folder, if you would like to take an look and see if any of those questions are of interest to you. Please post and let us know how the appt. went when you have time!
