Guest guest
I was on diuretics for two years before diagnosis - doctor could not figure out why I had fluid imbalance/retention problems. After 6 weeks GF, I stopped needing diuretics. Over the next six months of being GF, the massive amounts of fluid I had had in the belly (due to leaky gut) went away and I now have a flat stomach for the first time in my life! But if I get a little gluten by mistake - immediate fluid retention problems. I can easily retain up to 7 pounds of fluid for several days, until the gluten effects wear off. > > Earlier this past week I'd somehow totally glutened myself (don't you > hate when you have no idea how it happened?) Guest guest
This happened to me also! I had some gluten and gained about 1-4 lbs. whenever I eat gluten. All my life I had had a belly...not necessarily fat rolls, but it would always stick out... and i guess I was just bloated, but now it's actually normal - it doesnt stick out like Santa's Belly!marcianar@... wrote: I was on diuretics for two years before diagnosis - doctor could notfigure out why I had fluid imbalance/retention problems. Guest guest
This thing about having a " belly " is very interesting! I didn't have it (though this last week I noticed almost all the weight seemed settled in my tummy and down) but one of my sisters has a definite belly that won't go away no matter what she does. She's almost certain she is gluten intolerant like I am, but hasn't had the motivation (hmmph) to try going gf yet. Maybe vanity will give her that push! Thank you for your responses, too. My husband didn't disbelieve me, but thought it sounded strange (even for me. Lol!) My eldest jokes that the root of all evil is gluten (and even blamed two bad grades on his last report card it. As if!) > > > > Earlier this past week I'd somehow totally glutened myself (don't you > > hate when you have no idea how it happened?) On impulse, I weighed > > myself. Guest guest
I lost 20 lbs after going gluten free a year and a half ago. Every now and then I accidently eat something with gluten. I gain 3-4 lbs, but my weight returns to normal in just a few days.
