Guest guest
Kiley had gotten a real bad red spot on her head, it was almost a blister. We left the helmet off for two days so her head would heal. In the two days her helmet was off, her head started to flatten again. In my previous email I told you guys the doctor recommended we get rid of the helmet all together, obviously that is not a good idea. He also perscribed a third helmet if we decided to keep her in a helmet. We decided not to get the third helmet made. We brought her for an adjustment so the helmet fits comfortably right now. We are traveling to Houston Tuesday to get a second opinion. Hopefully this doctor can shed some light on what is going on with Kiley. I am also going to ask him to perscribe the DocBand, I am not happy at all with the helmet we are using. Correction on my previous email - I had stated that Kiley is wearing the StarBand. That is not correct, she is wearing the Hanger version of the StarBad. Sorry for the mistake, do not want to give StarBand a bad name. Thanks, Traci
Guest guest
Hi Tracie, Well at least now her helmet is fitting her correctly....(for now). Poor little girl, with her blister :-(. Please let us know how it goes with your second opinion. If I were you, I'd go for the Docband too (given that your 2 last bands were duds). Please let me know how it goes. > Kiley had gotten a real bad red spot on her head, it was almost a > blister. We left the helmet off for two days so her head would > heal. Guest guest
Hi Traci Ugh, I'm sorry things aren't going so well for you guys How frustrating. How long has Kiley been in his Hanger Band? Have you seen any correction? I hope they can straighten everything out. Maybe while you're in Houston for your Drs appt, you could visit the Cranial Tech licensed center out there? In " The Woodlands " actually. Have you looked into that yet? I'm not sure if that particular clinic offers free evals being licensed, but it's worth a shot! http://www.cranialtech.com " clinic locations " or chk our DATABASE helmet/band providers under TX for their info as well. Please keep us posted. Debbie > Kiley had gotten a real bad red spot on her head, it was almost a > blister. We left the helmet off for two days so her head would > heal. Guest guest
Traci, I don't blame you for being unhappy after having two bad helmets. Also, you say your doc wrote a script for a third helmet--can't you just use that one at Cranial Tech? Even if it has a brand name on it as long as it doesn't say " no substitutions " I would think you could use it for any helmet. Let us know how Tuesday goes. , mom to Hannah, DOC #3 3/30 Cape Cod, ma > Kiley had gotten a real bad red spot on her head, it was almost a > blister. Guest guest
, I'm so sorry you're going through this. Please let us know how you make out at your appt on Tuesday. If you do decide to go to Cranial Tech, you won't regret it! > Kiley had gotten a real bad red spot on her head, it was almost a > blister. Guest guest
Kiley has been in the Hanger bands for 2 months now. This is her second one. We have seen major improvement with both bands. The problem is, the head rounds out and the helmet does not fit any more. We have them adjusted and it does not help. Her head starts to regress because the helmet does not fit properly. We are going to Houston because the two doctors we have seen here can not offer an explanation for this. They say they have never seen a head change so much. We have an appointment Wednesday morning at the Cranial Tech center the Woodlands. I will let everyone know how it turns out. Guest guest
Sara, For insurance purposes we have to have a prescription that states the DocBand and a letter of medical necessity. My doctor here will not write a letter of medical necessity because he does not use the DocBand and he does not know its benefits. My husband and I really want another opinion anyway. We just don't feel comfortable with a doctor saying "I am sorry but I can not give you an intelligent reason for her head changing so much".
