Guest guest
Your child can deal with the helmet, really! If she's sweaty, take it off, rub her hair dry, and put it right back on. There will be a period of adjustment but she needs to wear it, and if there aren't medical issues like sores, she will learn to cope. Could she possibly be hitting her head, trying to tell you that she wants it back on? That's exactly what my son does the whole time I'm cleaning and drying his DOC band. I have to dry it with a blow dryer so I can put it back on him sooner. Can you position with pillows or blocks to keep her head straight with the helmet on? How old is she? Go and flush your guilt! You are obviously an outstanding Mommy. Try to remember why you decided to go with the helmet. The more she has it on the easier it will be on her. Don't give up! You'll get through this! , 18 mos, tort, DOC band On Thu, 27 May 2004 04:00:27 -0000 "lovleyliz_2000" <elizabeth@...> writes: I am into the end of 's first week with her helmet....and I find that I KEEP TAKING IT OFF OF HER! Guest guest
Thank you I will keep trying ...I think some of my problem is that the helmet is too big and keeps rotating and she just looks so bothered by it. (example she usually falls right to sleep at night and last night just laid in her crib for an hour (not Crying) but eyes open....Anyway I will have to get past it knowing that its not forever..Thanks for your encouraging words.........PS when I do take the helmet off of her to scratch her head etc her hair is soaked..>DO I HAVE TO BLOW DRY IT before putting the helmet back on? Thansk again. iginal Message-----From: sj grill [mailto:sugrill@...]Sent: Thursday, May 27, 2004 12:58 AMPlagiocephaly Subject: Re: Need Help...keep taking her helmet off Your child can deal with the helmet, really! Guest guest
Dear , Do you think may have an ear infection? Has she had a fever? The reason I ask is because was acting really cranky for a few weeks and I couldn't tell exactly what it was. Then he was ok for a couple days and last night woke up screaming in pain with a high fever. I took him to the Dr and sure enough he had a ear infection. His first one. They are just so hard to spot. Guest guest
If she has a lot of hair and doesn't mind the blow dryer, you could dry it that way. My son has fluffy thin hair so I just rub it with a towel, but only if it's soaking. If it's just damp I leave it be because he has never gotten a sore or a rash so far. Just pop the helmet off for a second, give her a good head massage, scratch, or dry, kiss her nose, pop it back on, and distract her until she forgets about it. Soon you'll forget it's there, too! Good luck! susan On Thu, 27 May 2004 08:27:25 -0400 " Gramer" <pgramer3@...> writes: Thank you I will keep trying ...I think some of my problem is that the helmet is too big and keeps rotating and she just looks so bothered by it.
