Hey a... watch those cracks about 46-year-olds, won't you!!!!!!

(who was 46 until four days ago)

Hi

Hi Everyone,

finally got myself organised enough to write.

,

great idea ..thanks

Jo,

It's so cool to go and buy new clothes isn't it, i really don't care if they

won't fit in a month. I've waited so long to wear something i like and know i

look good in it. I'm actually dressing like a 26yr old now too instead of the

46yr old being dressed in the fat clothes. Down to a size 14-16 and loving

it...shopping up a storm.

I think Rockman's should give me shares.

Take care everyone

hugs a ; )

Dear a

So sorry to hear about you and Rob. How are the kids handling it? Even when it's the right thing to do, separating is still very difficult for everyone involved. Wish we could have caught up whilst you were in Melbourne but I'll be in Brisbane! Hope you will be back in Melbourne before the end of the year otherwise I'll be over in Perth again at the end of Feb.

Hi Kay

Thanks for the email.....the kids are still coming to terms with the idea of living in a different house than daddy but we're doing ok. I'll be moving out when i get back from melbourne next week, we're going to take it really slowly ...if the kids want to stay here for a night they can ....just try to ease them into it. The good thing is that the two houses we own are only 5mins apart by car. Really looking forward to my break .....hope to catch you before the year is out. Take care

love and hugs

,

I am looking forward to the big trip but have to close a deal before I go

which is stressing me out as there is only three weeks to go!

I probably won't be back in Perth again until February next year, I do so

much travelling as it is and with the new Brisbane office I have to go up

there once a month at the very least.

Glad to hear you are going well - well done not to have gained with an empty

band.

Love

I don't know when I will have the port replaced, I haven't even visited the

surgery since January although I just received a note in the mail asking me

to organize a visit. I will probably decide when I go in to see the doctor.

I'll come too!!!!! But as I work in at nights, evenings are out for me! :(

But an afternoon, after school for Shona would be good! thats if everyone else

can come then! we should have met during the school hols for lunch. Why didn't

we think of that!! LOL!

As for the Aussie meeting in Melbourne, I think it is a great idea and would

love to come but at the moment we have so many trips planned for the next 18

months, i don't think I can wangle another! I am off to the UK in Oct (just for

a weekend, I know, it's crazy but my pals are having a party and they can't have

a party without me, can they??). then hubby and I are back to the Uk in June

next year, then maybe a cruise out of Florida in Feb 2002. before you all think

i have heaps of money, i work for an airline (or a subsidiary of one) so I get

cheap fares, otherwise none of these would be possible! And all of these are

planned on the internet with great friends I have met the same way! Ain't this

a wonderful thing??

the boobs and tummy are healing well, altho the tummy appears to be a mean

looking scar! It's quite fine still but ugly looking! the boob scars look

really good tho, I hope they don't spread in the next few months. At the moment

I am getting electrolosis for the bikini line (sorry guys! girl talk!), getting

ready for bathers! Last year I wore board shorts and a singlet top, and before

that I never bared my bod for swimming! Anyone else had electrolosis? I find

it extruciating!! I don't know if i can keep it up. I tried Emla cream but it

didn't make any diff. I wonder if lazer is any less painful???

Dear Meryl,

I am most definitely coming to the next meeting and look forward to seeing

you there. Sally couldn't make the last one and I was away for the two

before that so we haven't seen each other in a while. Also I am moving down

to Mt Eliza at the end of August so we will be neighbours.

Hi Shona,

I'm yet to be banded (researching at present) and that is one of the

things I'm worried about. " Comfort eating " , did anyone do things

like eating melted chocolate and the like? How does that effect your

weight loss? Or does it not really make much difference? My fiance

is worried that even if I have the band, I will still eat the wrong

things but just in smaller portions. I tend to agree with him, any

advise on this issue??

I feel sad that your fiance appears to be sabataging your weight loss attempts by lowering your self determination....there is no mirical pill here....but it is a great tool....my final decision was made when i realised that i was growing at an ever increasing pace....what type of life did i really want to have.....sure im healthy now...but what would my life be in 10 or 20 years from now...quite frankly i didnt like what i saw.....

are you able to come to a meeting (Melb, Bris, Adelaide)?...i went to my first meeting 2 days prior to my op....it was quite helpfull....

Thanks for letting me know who is coming

The more the merrier I say.

Anyone else out there have any friends that are pre-banded that would like

to come and meet us all. I think it is fantastic that Odette (and her mum)

who does not have the band has the oportunity to meet us all and of course

we are all such huge sucesses LOL.

Thanks .

Hi ,

It will be great to finally meet a next week. I am going well thanks. I

had all the fluid removed last week as he wanted to be sure it was only a

case of too much restriction than anything more sinister. Anyways....I am so

glad I am going back to see him next week as I have been eating , eating ,

eating. I even had a roast lamb meal last night. I have no restriction at

all! It is disheartening to realise the old demons are still waiting in the

wings. I will be having it refilled next Tuesday, hopefully about 2mls, as

2.5 was obviously too much.

See you next week.

Shona

Hi Shona

yes its amazing how all the old habits can kick right in again and even

thought you know you shouldnt eat so much - but youj ust cant help

yourself. Since I had .1 taken out I am not realy restricted at all - I can

eat 3 decent size portions a day - I am mantaining but I have to keep a

close eye on it. It does go up and down a little.

You should have had your fill on the wednesday - lets hope you can eat at

the restaurant.

see you then

Hi Esther,

So good to hear you're finally getting things under control. Congratulations on the 2 kg loss, that's great news. May you continue in this vein!

Me, I'm struggling a bit still, and going back to see tomorrow to have a bit of fluid removed. I'm still not keeping much down, and while the resultant weight loss is great, I'm feeling a bit weak from lack of nutrition. Weird, really.... at 1.5 I could eat too much, at 1.7 I can barely drink water. Guess we'll try 1.6 and see what happens.

I won't be able to make it to the meeting next week..... didn't realise I have concert tickets for that night. I'll miss next month too as I have another clash. I'll really miss seeing everyone for three months! Hope all goes well though, and that some new faces take the opportunity to show up.

Re the clothes..... yes, height difference probably is a factor..... I'll have a look and see if there's anything I think might be suitable, will let you know if so.

All the best,

.

Will be great to have you at the meeting on Saturday. I have a bunch

of info about the differences between the BPD and the BPD/DS. I

would definitely be asking which one you got.

Robin,

Please share all this with the Mitoldies. They will understand as most of us

have been thru something similar.

I'm very sorry and I do know how difficult it is.

Hi Alice,

I feeling better. I was so sad not to be able to go to the conference. I was looking forward to meeting all of you. Dr. Korson told me not to go. He's been a big help. I'm having a hard time dealing with all this. My son has Mito, and I was worrying about my daughter, I took her to see DR. Korson, and he ran a few labs, was a bit suspicious, ordered psycho-metric testing for an IQ level...she was having speech regression, and mood swings, couldn't sleep, aand started a lot of Myoclonic twitching at night. He said we would keep our eye on her, but she may be exhibiting beginning symptoms of Mito. I was so upset, she is my healthy child. She just turned nine, was sick since birth. I always fought to get him help, she was a breeze..very healthly. Then we got calls from her classroom teacher, her father thought she had a seizure...it all seemed to me like this can't happen twice. I only have two children.

Then things seemed to calm down with her and I just thought I was over stressed. I was extremely tired, but that was to be expected. Last year I donated Bone Marrow, to a 14 year old boy in TX, and he went into remission..this February he relapsed and I donated Stem Cells. I never seemed to recover from this procedure. I was constantly tired. I became anemic. I knew it would take a while to feel better, but I just wasn't. I blamed it on the stress of being worried and ignored symptoms that should have alarmed me. I had periods of time when my vision would just dull, and become very blurry, especially in my left eye. I was tripping. I thought it was my shoes, so I would swith, but it kept happening. I started getting headaches(which I never had), and was very tired. I was sleeping during the day for 4 hours. Then one night everything happened together. My visio was worse tan ever, I couldn't evem see peoples faces, I had neck pain, head pain, fevrs that were going up and down 97-104

I couldn't move. I felt like every move I made I was going to fall. It felt like I was on a rollercoaster. I really though I was dying. I haven't been myself since. I have headaches, periods of bad viion. I lose my balance all the time. I scared. Really, really afraid. I've always been able to take care of my children, and Now I am so tired I can't even think straight. An aide was offered to me for for 31 hours a week. I had said no, but now I feel so sorry for him. He gets up and checks on me while I'm sleeping. I know he is afriad. I'm just not myself, he can see it. I lost 14 lbs, I'm really afraid that whatever happened to me that night is going tohappen again.

I am so sorry to whine to you, but I haven't yet talked about my concerns. Everybody thinks I doing OK with this, but I'm not. I need to take care of my kids, and I don't have any energy.

I'm lost.

Glad to see you back and we missed you too! Also glad you and the

baby are doing great. I am waiting for Dr L to look at charts and

see what our next step will be. I hope its pergonal or clomid. I

need a boost in the TTC program. hehehe! I already have kids so I

don't think a PCT would be necessary, but if i have to do it I will.

Rubs your belly for me!

Hey, missed you lately. How are you feeling?? 20 weeks, wow!! Who

can believe it? It seems like just yesterday I was reading of all

your ups and downs of ttc. Do you know what you are having?? Boy or

girl?? I am so happy for you.

I am not happy about the snow, though. I am lower Michigan. So I

can expect what you get in a couple weeks usually. Although, lately

it has looked like snow clouds quite a few times. I keep telling my

kids, pretty soon it will be time for Santa. My DD8 doesn't believe

anymore(boohoo), and my DS5 believes wholeheartedly(Yeah!!!!!!!!)..He

has written his name next to almost every toy in the JCPenney gift

catalog.LOL. He is so excited. Veggie Tales has come out with a new

video. The star of Christmas. I think that's the name of it. I am

going to get it for him this weekend. His sister is already pumping

him up with watching Rudolph and Frosty. It is going to be a long

fall.......til Santa comes anyway.

Congrats again on the baby. I am happy you are doing well. Keep us

posted.

God Bless

Carol Maday
