Guest guest
Hi, I'm so happy to hear about Holly. It really makes me feel so positive about my own daughter Lucia- I think her head is rounding out a bit after only two weeks (she was a bit more severe to start with, the difference was 2.3). It really does give you confidence, doesn't it, that you have done the right thing, particularly when they have adjusted so well to it and it has not been any bother for them. I totally agree with you about seeing Dr Blecher personally, I just wouldn't wait for the NHS to take its course. I think I mentioned to you in a previous email that I was given an appointment for 5 months after I first took her to the doctor (at least he referred me!) Anyway- great to hear Holly's good news, thanks for letting us know. I'm taking Lucia in two weeks for her first check, so will let you know how we get on. Guest guest
Dear Hannah, I just joined this group yesterday - you may have seen my message re support in the UK? Really interested in hearing about your experience with Dr Blecher, his name crops up all over the place. I have just sent him an email about how to get an appointment with him. We have private insurance, but I don't know if he sees kids privately? We just want something done as soon as possible now! How did you get seen by him? And how long did it take? Any pictures of Holly anywhere? :0) Cerstin
Guest guest
Hi, Cerstin, Hannah here- I'm actually Lucia's mum, but I know Holly's mum has also replied to you- the UK bunch are very suportive!!!!! I've just written you quite a long reply which may contain the info you need- all I'd say is do get in touch with Dr Blecher- he will definitely fit you in as soon as he can if you email him. As I say in my last email- we went privately with him just because of the time factor- with a seven month old I don't think you can afford to sit around with this- because earlier treatment is better as it utilises the natural growth of the head which is mainly in the first year or so (so it is best to start asap). He has a clinic on some Sunday's in Harley St, and then an NHS free clinic on Mondays (2 a month), but the King's clinic can take quite a long time to get into- so you may just want to pay for an initial consultation just to get her seen quicker. i'm not sure if you go to the King's one on the Monday whether you have to pay for the helmet yourself or whether it is available on the NHS_ you could ask some of the other mums on here- again, we just resigned ourselves to forking out on the basis that we didn't want to wait a moment longer...We saw him a couple of weeks after we first contacted him and we received her helmet two weeks later (it can't be faster than that as he's simply not in the country). Hope this helps- what's your little one called?! Guest guest
Hannah, I think our messages crossed there! Thanks again for all your info. I will definately try to make a private appointment and then ask questions about NHS helmets. I don't hold much hope for them paying anything though! My son's called Aidan, but we call him Squishy (because he is our little fishy...). And I will try and get half an hour nap in now, as he is peacefully asleep at the moment completely oblivious to the fact that he is yet again on his back :0) Cerstin
