Guest guest
We are still awaiting Jennicah's Hanger helmet. It has been 3 and a half weeks since casting. The orthotist does not seem to be worried about it. He was out of town last week. I am hoping the fitting goes well. It should be either today or tomorrow. I am sure I will have many questions as soon as it is on. and Jennicah in Washington
Guest guest
3 1/2 weeks seems like to long between the casting and fitting. . Is the ortho also the manager there? I would let them know from the start of all your concerns. Maybe you could print out some pictures of other babies in Hanger bands to take with you. Please let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Umm...I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but 3.5 weeks is TOO long to go between casting and fitting. These babies are growing at a rapid rate and the headshape and size can/do change dramatically in 3.5 weeks. I would hate for Jennicah to have to go through another casting and wait time for another band. Dustie > We are still awaiting Jennicah's Hanger helmet. Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to echo Dustie's concerns. How old is Jennicah? Most places do the fittings no longer than 2 weeks after the casting and on younger babies they try to do it even sooner. If you want to take your chances and don't want to ask for a recast please be very careful about doing frequent skin checks. Please let us know what happens. , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > > > > We are still awaiting Jennicah's Hanger helmet. It has been 3 and > a half > > weeks since casting. Guest guest
Hi , My son went 2 and a half weeks between his scan and the fitting, and that was about as long as I would ever recommend. It is possible that Jennicah's head has not grown in that time frame, but it certainly is not the norm. With a time frame this long between the two, it will certainly be up to the orthotist to ensure that the band is a good fit. Please be careful. A bad fitting band can be worse than no band at all. - mom to Aidan > We are still awaiting Jennicah's Hanger helmet. It has been 3 and a half > weeks since casting.
