Hi, everyone. As I write, a pot of goat yogurt is incubating. My

son has been on SCD for 4 1/2 months and I have finally decided to

try the yogurt. I'm wondering, though, exactly what kind of reaction

am I looking for (if he has one)? I'm very nervous about this as my

son has been casein free for over a year. Thanks for your help.

Hi ,

If you are really nervous about the goat yogurt, here's a few tips to ease into

it. Some find that dripped yogurt (yogurt cheese) is tolerated easier than

undripped. Instructions for making it can be found in Breaking the Vicious

cycle on page 134 - the " Cream Cheese recipe " . Start with a tiny amount 1/4 -

1/2 teaspoon and skip a day or two. Watch for any reaction good or bad. If all

goes well repeat with another 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon on the third or fourth day. If

all goes well again gradually increase to 1/2 - 1 teaspoon on the fourth or

fifth day.

Possible negative reactions can include bloating, cramps, diarrhea, constipation

and behavioural regressions.

Die-off can occur when yogurt is introduced. I had a huge die-off when I

introduced yogurt. My skin became very inflammed, but at the same time my gut

felt even better than before. After 1 week to ten days my skin cleared up.

Before I was able to tolerate yogurt my belly bloated up (looked like I was four

months pregnant).

Hope this helps. :)
