Guest guest
Hey there Beth, your getting the gloves out I see. Seems like we need that eh. Been a little slack here lately. Have a great OP wk. ~~Kallie~~
Guest guest
Yes, but they are lovely silk gloves with a faux fur lining. hahaha But seriously folks... This list is called SERIOUS Weight Watchers. But it seems we've been slipping with our purpose here. Now, I am NOT NOT NOT picking on any one person at ALL... but... I joined this list because I found it SO darned refreshing to finally find a place where people were really dedicated to this lifestyle change. It was a list without the typical " oh it's sooo hard " and " oh I just couldn't help myself " and " oh poor pitiful me I only lost 5 pounds this month and I'm so depressed " or " my dog just died and I just HAD to eat that whole chocolate cake " . It was a place where you didn't hear " I can't " but rather " I will! " I'm assuming everyone read the description of this group before they made that decision to join. I quote: " No whining allowed! If you attempt your programs half-heartedly, this is not the group for you. If you binge after weigh-in, not for you. Only serious weight watchers here! " If speaking my feelings out makes me the group meanie, then so be it. But it seems to me that we need to get the FOCUS of this group back!! Am I a perfect weight watcher? Are you kidding me??? BUT, it doesn't help any of us if I come to the list moaning about how " weak " I was and how much I'm struggling. The more positive you are on the outside, the more it will seep in to the inside! Guest guest
Amen to that!! and NO you are absolutely not a meanie. I joined the group after reading the intro on the home page myself. I mean, can you give me examples of what NOT to say or ask? I'm feeling like I'll have to walk on eggshells in order to not say the wrong thing. Can we not say that we're feeling " stuck " ? I'm very serious about wanting to get rid of this weight with WW. I'm very serious about wanting to stay on program and see progress. I love this group and the support it provides. Guest guest
I totally agree......great writing Beth! You are to be commended for your honest opinion, which also just happens to be the truth! Guest guest
I think you're right about the no whining stuff, etc. However, what I notice is that most of the time, when someone does starting whining, saying I can't, etc., someone else is around to kick us in the butt and tell us to get up and get moving and take responsibility for our problems. Guest guest
Bette, I don't think anything you have said or asked has been wring. I think she was simply saying that we all need to be serious. I took it as in general, not as anything else. For the weight to come off, you cannot be wishy washy. Yes, you can have bad days, it's all in how you handle those bad days. Being serious means committing to WW and the lifestyle. This is a lifelong journey and cannot be entered into lightly. Saying you can't do something, saying you ONLY lost ???--this one kills me, any loss is a major deal, even 1 tenth of a pound. We just all need to be positive and take the journey one day at a time -- Re: Re: Beth In a message dated 6/13/2003 4:01:04 AM Pacific Daylight Time, b_vanes@... writes: > But seriously folks... > > This list is called SERIOUS Weight Watchers. Guest guest
Bette, I was merely giving my opinion. And, in my opinion, there is a HUMONGUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! difference in saying you're having a bad week, or are struggling, or asking for advice and whining and complaining that " I just couldn't help myself... oh I HAD to eat that... etc... I'm on my period and just couldn't stop eating... etc " . And (again) in MY opinion, there has been an awful lot of that going on lately on a list that clearly says " No whining " . Guest guest
Go Beth! I think Kallie was cheering you on, not criticizing you at all. You're right to remind us what this list is all about. There are a lot of lists where you can find shoulders to cry on, but if you want to find Babes in Boots, this is the place! We've donned 'em and we're not afraid to use 'em! ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~` Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator The successful person will do things that the unsuccessful person will not. > Re: Beth > > > Yes, but they are lovely silk gloves with a faux fur lining. > > hahaha > > But seriously folks... > > This list is called SERIOUS Weight Watchers. Guest guest
Beth...I don't think you a meanie at all. And it it truth about the list and being positive and truthful with ourselves. Our attitudes will support us or defeat us. Good job to bring us into focus! Thanks! ) Sharon Keep on looking up!!! I joined this list because I found it SO darned refreshing to finally find a place where people were really dedicated to this lifestyle change. It was a list without the typical " oh it's sooo hard "

Last month I decided to try a version of Atkins called South Beach Diet - it was unralistic for me to think I coudl live withotu carbs but what it did teach me is that I can certainyl cut down on them. I was happy to return to WW and know that there will be times when I can have a bit of this and that which really satisfy me. 152.6/152.6/130 ~~ in NJ~~ So Many Books, So Little Time Currently Reading: Prayers for Rain by Dennis Lehane Just finished: The Mulberry Tree by Jude Deveraux ( No Second Chance by Harlan Coben (C/3) Green Angel by Alice Hoffman (A+/10) Home Before Dark by Wiggs (B+/7) Family History by Dani Shapiro (A/9) Next Reads: The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst The Lake House by
