Fluid Pocket on Forehead?

Hey guys;

I know there's been a lot of questions about fluid pockets forming

with the DOCbands, but all the ones I've found have been them

forming either at the top where the whole is, or at the opening at

the ear. Trey has a little fluid pocket forming on his forehead,

one the side of the forehead that sticks out further, as well as

minor skin breakdown happening at the same site. He has a fitting

tomorrow, so I'm thinking I should leave the band off until

tomorrow, but what do you guys think? Is it even something to worry

about?

Confused :)

Thanks

Cristi

Hi Cristi

If you guys have the adjustment tomorrow I would leave the band

off. You will do less harm with it off tonight than leaving it on,

and causing skin breakdown. It sounds like this could be a forming

blister? Is there a redspot when you take it off at all? Let us

know how the adjustment goes, and what they say about the area.

Good luck.

Hi Cristi,

If you think it looks like " minor skin breakdown " is happening,

definitely leave it off and maybe put some neosporin or something on

it. Hopefully it will heal quickly and won't get worse. If you

leave it on and it does breakdown, you're looking at probably a week

at least out of the band, so it's definitely worth the precaution.

Maybe he needs adjustments a little more frequently if he's growing

so quickly. Let us know what happens tomorrow!

Hi Cristi-

My son, just had that last week. I was concerned because it

seemed like his head was going to grow out of the top of the band

opening. The Orthotist did a fitting in the area and his head looks so

much better. I would go to the Ortho for another fitting.
