Guest guest
I want to try GSE for my daughter. If nothing else just as a topical rince for her face. She is 12 and has keratosis pilaris(sp?). I had read somewhere that it is yeast related. It had improved when we started to diet but has begun to worsen. Anyway, my question is about the GSE. Grapefruit juice is contraindicated with her seizure meds. Can she still use GSE? Thanks, na, 12, SCD 4 weeks
Guest guest
Hi , I don't know. It might be a better question for a good pharmacist or doctor. Is it worse during the winter? Are you treating it with anything else? What is she eating now that is different from when you saw the improvement? Sheila, SCD 37 mos, UC 20 yrs > I want to try GSE for my daughter. Guest guest
I was treating it with a lotion that the dermo gave her but ut aggravates her acne. it is much better in the winter. I wonder if her hormones are fluctuating. Also this afternoon she had a large BM full of fiber looking things, looked like some small chunks of butternut squash, black grainy things, and it smelled sort of sweet, if that makes sense. I wonder if it was die off. She really has had no obvious signs of die off. However, she is now having bowel movements everyday instead of every 3-4 days. I'm really excited about that. I will be glad when we get out of diapers though. Twelve year olds eat a LOT!! Right now she eats meat, butternut squash, zuchinni, green beans, cabbage(once), and carrots. na, 12, CP, seizures, SCD CF 4 weeks > Hi , > > I don't know. Guest guest
Hi , Some of my skin conditions got worse before they got better with the diet. Mine are definitely hormone related, something my dermatologist and fertility specialist I saw picked up that my (previous) General Practioner did not. Since na is 12 it very well could be her hormones. SCD has finally regulated my hormones. Far better tahn all the treatments I recieved over the years. The nice side effect (besides regular menstrual cycles) has been that my skin has cleared up. Maybe the flare up of keratosis pilaris and the black things in her stools are related. Black specks in stools are often associated with die-off and four weeks is still fairly early in the diet. It is great to hear that she is having more regular bm's. Just to continue to go slow and steady with the diet. Did you check with the pharmacist about the GSE?
